Is anyone applying for Fall 2010 admission to this program?

Okay I will try to figure it out. Also, I just registered - I got the Marietta campus! Yay!

And for those who haven't heard, WellStar is not offering the WellStar scholars program at this time. They chose the Marietta students based on distance from the campus, and if WellStar decides to initiate the program later, they will just choose from those students.

Thats cool, Congrats, now I cannot wait until I register to see what campus I get. I do not register until the 29th. I also sent you a private message.

Congrats! Everyone on your acceptance this fall. I went to Marietta campus last year and will be attending this year as well. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

I just read some of the postings for this year and Im telling you that you will not believe how fast the time will fly and how amazing of an experience it is. The best advice I can give is get your fundamentals book and read chapter 32 and get your assessment kit and start practicing.

I also had Marietta and was not a scholar recipient and as far as I've heard. The scholarship program has been eliminated for this year. Best of luck to you guys!!

Hi! I am applying to the nursing program at Georgia Highlands for Spring! I was just wondering if anyone can tell me the approximate cost of the program per semester. In state and Out of State estimates would be great! Also, for those of you who have already began the program....If I am accepted, I will be drive 1.5 hours to get there and then another 1.5 hours to get home each day. Do you think this is doable? It is possible that I can live closer but I have to make up my mind over the next month for leasing purposes.

I appreciate any help I can get! I just moved to Georgia and am hoping to start nursing school asap!

When you all get the private page set-up please let me know. I would like all the support I can get. I chose the Rome location.

okay..since you guys are also getting an ASN do you ever feel like your getting "less" of a degree? or am I just looking for something to complain about? lol..I currently have a 3.2 and have done 75 hrs so I was just wondering. I know that if I were to try to get into a school this go round I would have a much better chance but I dont know, I guess I was just really visualizing myself graduating at KSU. I hope you guys don't think I am ungrateful because I really don't want to come across that way. Its just hard because when people ask me about school and I say I am getting my Associates they automatically assume that its for my LPN. I guess it doesn't really matter. I mean, I should look at it like I have a better chance to make good grades b/c I only have to take 2 classes a semester as apposed to 4. But am I a jerk? or does anyone else have the same thoughts. I am actually considering not posting this b/c 1. I don't want to be a buzz kill..b/c I am EXTREMELY excited!! and 2. I really really don't want you guys to think I am dumb. But thanks for reading and if you guys don't feel the same way I totally understand. At this point I am so sick of "feelings"..lol..

I personally do not feel that I am getting "less" of a degree. I am not stopping once I receive my associates degree, I plan to continue learning for as long as I can. I have found that the less you tell people, the less they will ask. Just tell them that you are going to school to become a nurse. A nurse at any level is making a contribution to society, the way I see it. And I don't think you are a jerk, I just think you shouldn't let what others say hinder you from your goal of becoming a nurse. I stopped talking about school, when people continued to ask "are you still in school." :nurse:

Well, I took the opportunity to ask a professor at KSU who is also a medical doctor (you probably know who I'm talking about) because a good friend was considering GHC. He said in no way would he consider the ASN degree/RN a lesser degree and that they are just as knowledgeable. Also, it's great because you can quickly bridge to a BSN after achieving the ASN degree and get that at night or online while actually working. I've heard that to advance you need the BSN but you could get that quickly after graduating. I didn't want to go w/ that route because I'm an older student that needs the whole enchilada, but as competitive as entrance into ANY program is, take what you get and don't pitch a fit! We can always make changes in our careers as we go, but first one has to get into a program and that's not easy! :D

Thanks guys..I really appreciate that advice. I was hesitant to post that because I don't 100% feel that way..but I have had some lingering doubts about it. But ya'll are absolutely right! I really just need to button it about nursing school to others. because I really feel that this is my path for a reason and I shouldn't compare myself to anyone else. RN is RN. ASN or BSN. but I am kinda looking into the RN-MSN program. But I think I will just do my bridge for BSN at North GA first. I have to remind myself that I will be making money sooner and can still advance my education. I just can't wait to get started! I haven't found ANYONE thats going to my school its kinda crazy! But I wish I could talk to others about books etc..but you guys are great! Thanks again. I think I am just losing my mind waiting for school to start. I parade around the house in my uniform and went to my dads and showed him and he was like..you do know your 28 right? haha..no one knows how hard this has been but you guys. so thanks for advice/input and everything else. We are going to be nurses in 2012!! YAY! Still so crazy!

Congrats to everyone that got accepted to the program! It has been a whirlwind since getting my acceptance letter. So much to get together in what felt like a tiny amount of time. I am sure that the next 2 years are going to feel that way the entire time. I found out at registration that I will be attending the Rome campus. I live in Yorkville which is about equal distance from Rome and Marietta so I am a-ok with that. I look forward to getting to know you all that will be at the Rome campus.

I am patiently waiting to getting my TEAS score at the Keys to Success workshop. I don't think I did very well on the Science portion. What did you guys think about the Science and Math parts?

I looked up the book list on the school bookstore website and could not believe how much all the books cost. I am glad that they list the ISBN numbers on all the nursing books so we can look elsewhere for them. It is insane.

Mikella

Congrats on your acceptance. I have purchased all of my books from amazon.com, way cheaper than the bookstore, so I highly recommend to look that route. I took my Teas awhile back, but I found the math portion the hardest, I think because no calculators. On the my test I found the science portion okay it was kinda of random with A&P, Organic Chemsitry, Earth Science. But atleast they just use it as a tool, not for admittance purposes this year.

Anyone else find out what campus they will be attending? I have to wait until thursday to find out, since I have already taken the TEAS.
