I just read some of the postings for this year and Im telling you that you will not believe how fast the time will fly and how amazing of an experience it is. The best advice I can give is get your fundamentals book and read chapter 32 and get your assessment kit and start practicing. I also had Marietta and was not a scholar recipient and as far as I've heard. The scholarship program has been eliminated for this year. Best of luck to you guys!!

Congrats on your interview at KSU. I just started highlands and saw that you had applied there too. I am really enjoying the there program so far.

I attend the program at the GHC program in Marietta this year. They have 28 funded scholars in the loan program and there is an additional 11 students that also attend the campus w/o participation in the loan program. There is a total of 39 students this year to start. We will all be doing are clinicals in Wellstar facilities. Its a great opportunity. :typing ....Also, the classes aren't held at Southern Poly anymore they are at the Windy Hill Dev. Cntr.

"Where there is a will there is a way." You can do it!!!! I am staring nursing school next week and am panicked myself. I have 3 kids + hubby too and I can not get them to pick-up after themselves...I just told everyone that I am starting nursing school next week and will be really involved studying non-stop for 10 weeks... We are going full blast for 10 weeks, then we start our clinicals in Oct. and then a comprehensive final in Dec. I have been doing some serious organizing, de-cluttering, and hardcore deep cleaning. .....and that's gonna be it. I don't plan on being mrs housekeeper during the next 10 weeks. They will have to adjust. Afterall, we are all just humans, not superheros, at the end of the day.....Don't push yourself too hard....Just prioritize and do the best you can. :)

Congratulations to you! That's wonderful news! I had applied to the new program at Chattahoochee but have not heard anything as of yet. I had a good experience there.... When did you receive your letter?

I would go with the closer school because of the drive and the financial aid issue. One reason that you would want to choose a closer school is because you might be given an employment opportunity at the hospital where you do your clinicals. The closer school is going to do clinicals at a closer hospital as well. What are the two schools that you are considering? :) Good luck to you!

Hey, Lynetta,I was enrolled at Chattahoochee up until last quarter and was a nursing-ADN interest. The classes needed are: ....Not sure about what the exact class names are now; but this should give you a good idea. English Comp I English Comp II College Algebra Sociology Speech/Communications Intro to Computers Psy I Developmental Psy Anat 1 Anat 2 Microbiology :redbeathe Chatt Tech is a great school, I had a good experience.....but I am not sure if their ADN program will start in Jan. There is speculation that it might not. You might want to apply to more than one place, so that you leave your options open. I applied for Chatt Tech's program and GHC and am glad that I did, b/c Chatt's program isn't starting in August. It might not start in Jan either. I got accepted into Ga highlands and am super excited because I need to start making $ and every month I wait is a month longer that I shouldn't. Good luck w/ everything!

And besides TLC can only show you but so much, LOL. I won't know until I actually proceed in my quest. I'm looking for some opinions and ideas for a single mom trying to fulfill her dreams. And my kids are tired of watching TLC and Discovery Health with me....:redpinkhe.... Lol, I can completely relate b/c my kids beg me to change the Discovery Health Channel! I love Trauma, Dr G, and Mystery Diagnosis......My mother in law is a cert phleb. and she was a medical assistant and it helped her. I wouldn't advise it for an aspiring RN. You will learn all that once in the RN program. About becoming a lpn first....I want to first start out by saying it's an admirable profession that requires extreme effort. That being said, I took Micro last quarter w/ two lpns that had completed their program last year. One girl said,"it was a complete disapointment for her." She was surprised at the amount of effort required to make 10hr. They are both back in classes to become an RN. I did n't want to upset anyone I just thought that I would tell you what I heard...

I am not a rn or a lpn but a nursing student hopeful for fall 2009. I am eagerly awaiting word. This is my second career and I decided to pursue what I wanted. It sounds like you really want to become a rn. If this is the case, you should go for what you really want. You have been waitlisted, not rejected. You mentioned that your lpn program is farther away. Do you want to drive a long distance to be a part of something your heart is not in?:heartbeat If you are not feeling it, you wouldn't be able to give the program your all.......Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. I took another look. To be honest, I don't know what's going on with the calculations and the worksheets. All I know is that I am scared! I can't take this waiting much longer. According to what they are saying now the committee is reviewing us and making their decisions next week and the letters go out after that. I am excited and worried at the same time .

Best of luck to you. You will probably do fine. I had to take Micro by itself b/c it was extremely involved. I found it more difficult than both Anat & Psy 1 & 2. I had to go and and buy a digital voice recorder for my Micro class b/c we moved through the material so fast. I would play it back and listen to anything that I needed further clarification on. I would then make flash cards of all the various terms. In the end, I came out with A's in Anat & Psy and a B in Micro. I studied like crazy and ended up with a 88 in Micro. I was crushed, I should have even put in more effort, but I was working p/t and raising 3 kids.

Yes, they do vary. You can do a bit of research online and find everything out. I printed out the applications to all the schools that I wanted to apply and then I looked at the classes each req'd. They were mostly the same. Sometimes they vary only by one course.
