  1. Nursing school orientation is the "shot that kids get" meaning the fear is not as bad as the actual shot. I love being a nurse, sometimes forums are outlets for us to vent to people who actually know what you're going through. There is nothing like the genuine thanks you get from a patient, or knowing that you've helped eased someone's pain. Being part of a family support system of a dying patient. Everything in life has its ups and downs, but in my opinion nursing is the most gratifying career I have ever had.
  2. I was recently in your same position, and it was very difficult. Although I did not take the online route. I accomplished both goals, but it was not easy. There are a few things you should consider, that I did not. 1. Are clinical hours required for your degree program? 2. What are the required education / training requirements for the ICU department? 3. Scheduling issues with preceptors and class work assignments? 4. What are the required certifications and the time frame to have them completed? Balancing family, work, and school schedules is difficult and you will not be able to give 100% all of the time. I feel that now that I have graduated I am able to devote some much additional time learning more about these critical patients and issues. I graduated this April, and I am very excited that I have yet another goal accomplished. I hope this helps and I wish you the best!
  3. Yes we have orientation again next semester too.
  4. Well, we are down to our last few days of 1st semester. It has been filled with highs and lows. I am taking a moment to break from studying for finals to reflex on this emotional roller coaster I have been on. Our finals are December 9th, and it will be somewhat great to not think about the next test for a while. I must admit that mind is telling me to read next semester's material to get a head start. Oh well... bring on round 2!!! To those of you studying for finals GOOD LUCK!!!:heartbeat:redbeathe:o
  5. I just want to wish everyone a great first day tomorrow.
  6. Fawn is all of your paperwork complete. If not check with Ms. Cozby, the nursing dept. secretary. I know they said that there maybe a delay in us getting into Vista.
  7. The fact that our schedules (Marietta & Rome) are different we won't be able to study much as a big group, like the the Fall 2009 group.
  8. I know. I tried to log onto the ATI site, but was unable to. I am trying to find out more about the ebooks from the library now. That 18 chapters scared the heck out of me.
  9. So, now that orientation is behind us... What do you all think? I am excited and scared at the same time. I am ready to get started. I hate I didn't check the site to see that you all were meeting at the IHOP. Is there anyone here staying at the Rome site?
  10. I personally do not feel that I am getting "less" of a degree. I am not stopping once I receive my associates degree, I plan to continue learning for as long as I can. I have found that the less you tell people, the less they will ask. Just tell them that you are going to school to become a nurse. A nurse at any level is making a contribution to society, the way I see it. And I don't think you are a jerk, I just think you shouldn't let what others say hinder you from your goal of becoming a nurse. I stopped talking about school, when people continued to ask "are you still in school."
  11. When you all get the private page set-up please let me know. I would like all the support I can get. I chose the Rome location.
  12. i got my grades last night i made a B now it's on to II
  13. i am 33 and i remember everything on the list LOL:chuckle
  14. You are not alone. My husband constantly ask if there are any clean clothes. My house is a mess and thank goodness it's summer, because my kids stay with family. Just remember the POT OF GOLD at the end of the rainbow. I did not do well on my first test so now I am not even answering calls or watching TV. I do let off some stress with this site. Because it keeps me focused and let me know I am not ALONE:banghead:
  15. I am a transfer student from Georgia State. I have to take my Biology classes. I plan to apply April of '09. I am asking all these questions because I wanted to see what my other options were if I didn't get accepted. I also needed to find another school to transfer to so I can get my BSN.
