GWU has no info on their new grad program on their page (I'm not even sure if they have one). I tried contacting the nurse recruitment, but haven't heard anything back. Does anyone have any info on them, or an alternate contact? Thanks.
has anyone seen any information on benefits offered by GWUH? I seem to think I saw some information online about it earlier this year, but now I can't find it? Is there anything about their benefits in Cyberspace?
There is a link on the website that give basic benefit information. After you click the employment tab, on the right side of the page there is a link to download benefit information.

Shawn, congrats on getting the job. Which floor are you going to be on? I also got a job and will be working on the general medicine unit (4 South). It actually took them a whole month after my interview for them to tell me I got the job (and only after I called/emailed them).Corey
Hi Corey,
I will also be on the 4th floor, General Medicine Unit. Is Ms Diggs the Nurse Manager? Its been a while since I've interviewed and cant really remember if its 4th or 5th because of the number of interviews ive been on. Its confusing. Are you going to do rotating shifts or just nights?
Shawn
Shawn,
Yes, I did interview with Felicia Diggs, and I'm 99% sure she's 4th floor. The only work I'm doing until Aug 17th is babysitting. You're an LPN, right? I wish I had some background skills coming in like that, I'm so scared (but excited) about starting.

I was an LPN prior to me passing boards in March. I work at an assisted living as a wellness nurse, which is considered management, but i cant deal with the politics. The pay is good, but my license is worth more. I have no support there. Which is why im glad I didnt turn this job down like I initially wanted to.
But i am so excited about this job. Im keeping this other one until August and will give notice just in time to start at GWUH. Have you taken boards yet? I still have to apply for my DC license, which is an additional $230 plus the $130 for my virginia endorsement. Nursing is expensive, at least we will be compensated in the long run.

I was able to track down a recruiter (took me forever!) and their next new grad application period opens early December. I was surprised by that. I graduate in mid-December and if I'm still job hunting by early December I'm going to be getting a bit worried. Seems so late to open it in December.
Most hospital new grad programs in the area start in feb, july, and october which is why they wouldn't open the application up until then. I am in the same boat. I REALLY want to work at this other hospital that starts in October, but I just graduated this weekend () and the applications just became available. Since I was moving out of state it was too risky and I found a job at a nearby hospital instead......but, still hoping that in the mean time I can get in to my original choice :)
Please all, can somebody who has gone through the phone screening interview with GWUH give a hint on what is been ask about? I have graduated since last may and has taken my NCLEx and passed since last year sept but have not gotten a job since then. I have a phone screening interview next week monday and do not have idea of what to expect. If you have gone thru it and u are willing to give a hint, it will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.
I had a telephone interview and it was not hard at all. It was a lady from HR and she asked me what my strengths and weaknesses were. Because I was applying for a medicine floor, she also asked me what I learned/did in my med/surg clinical. That's all I can remember, I don't think she asked anything else. Hope it goes well!

I was offered and accepted a New Grad position at GWUH. Yomi is hard to get in contact with even after you've gotten the job offer. I think there are 2 NR, but I think she handles the new grad. She is also pregnant and has probably reduced her hours which is why she takes so long to respond. I even played phone tag accepting the offer. So is everyone else still waiting to hear back?
Initially, I also got the rejection letters because I didnt have my BSN. But was contacted 2 weeks later to set up a phone interview. After the phone interview with the NR, I interviewed with the Nurse Manager of the unit two weeks later. It took almost two weeks to get the job offer after the 2nd interview.
In the meantime, I moved to the area and having been working in a assisted living until the job starts.
If I were still looking for something in the hospital, I would continue to bombard her with calls and emails until you get some results. Also, I applied at other area hospitals back in Feb/March and am just now getting rejection letters. I know its hard when there is no income. But, I think getting something prn at a nursing home wouldnt be that bad until you find something. At least you will be getting some experience and skills and making money until you get the job you want.
