Hi, I am wondering if anyone applied to GMU's FNP program for Fall 2016. Or if anyone is currently enrolled. I am applying and feel a bit nervous/noncompetitive when considering my overall GPA. The website states they want you to have a 3.0 out of 4.0 for the last 60 hours. However, I can't help but think they will also take into consideration overall GPA. Anyway, just wondering other people's thoughts/experiences with this school or admission rate. Thanks.

Hello, there. We have moved your thread to our Student Nurse Practitioners forum with the ultimate goal of amassing more responses. Good luck to you, and we hope you get admitted.

Hi. I have applied to FNP program for fall 2016 as well, and waiting for the decision email. What does your application status look like? Mine is not complete although I completed every requirement which makes me feel a bit anxious. I don't really know much about their admission rate for FNP program, but I would think it is pretty competetive. I am looking into other places since GMU is the only school I applied. Did you apply to any other school? If so, may I ask which ones?
Hi RomieRN,
It took a long time for items to show up as completed on my application. My video is still saying it wasn't received. I contacted Slideroom and they said their records show it was submitted without issue. So then I tried to contact admissions. They finally replied after a week and said they had received my video. It just needed to be manually added to my application by an advisor. That was over a week ago and it is still saying it hasn't been received. As for other schools, I applied to University of South Alabama for Spring admission and wasn't accepted because my overall GPA is only a 3.11. They don't require references, goal statement, or video…so you really are just a number in the system. They told me to rollover my application and include a goals statement to be reconsidered for Fall 2016. So I did and now I'm waiting. Those are the only two schools I've applied to so far. I have done a lot of research regarding schools and have some in mind in case GMU or USA doesn't work out. What schools have you looked at so far? I'm really hoping GMU mainly looks at my last 60 hours vs my overall! Good luck to you!
GRE is not required for GMU, right? On my application status, GRE appears as not completed, and I thought it was not required for MSN NP program. I feel that my application is not being reviewed at all. Anyway, I am also considering Chamberlain. It seems the application process is very simple and easy. I like that it is done all online (except for one meeting), but don't like the fact that you have to find your own preceptor. I just hope I get into GMU. Good luck to you, too, and let me know if you hear from them.
GRE is only required upon request. I'm pretty sure my application said GRE not completed for at least a week, maybe longer. Then I checked my application and everything had been received…except for my video. I hope I get into GMU, too! I attended the GMU information session and they said we had to find our own preceptors as well. I think nearly all programs have moved to that. I'll let you know if I hear anything. You do the same!

Hi everyone! I also applied for Mason's FNP Fall 2016 program. Just wondering if you guys had any updates on your application status, mine still says GRE not recieved as well. Emailed GMU today, so hopefully I'll have some answers!
I emailed them about my video and it took them 5 days to respond. My video was finally attached to my application 3 weeks after I sent it. My application now says out for decision. I think your issue with the GRE will be resolved eventually! I hope sooner rather than later. Let me know what happens!

Hello everyone,
I also applied for the FNP for fall. Has anyone heard back or know when decisions will be sent out? My application still has out for decision as a status.
I haven't heard anything either. I'm getting nervous!
Mine is out for decision as well. Still waiting. I think I saw somewhere on their website 6-8 weeks for decision. But I could be wrong.
Hey everyone! My status just changed to "out for review" a few days ago. I think we should hear by the end of the month! :) Good luck everyone! I check my app status way too much, so I'll let you guys know if anything changes!
