The dreaded panty line.......

I have to wear white pants for clinical and although I haven't purchased them yet, I suspect that since they are white you will probably be able to see through them.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to hide the appearance of your underwear underneath?

I once heard that if you wear nude or tan colored bras/underwear under white it blends in with your skin and is hardly noticeable.

I have also thought about wearing support hose too thinking that if they are white or nude it may make them less noticeable and may help with circulation too.

Let me know if you have any tips.

I recently had my fitting for our school uniform and wondered the same thing! ... (well, that and something else, but I'll keep that to myself or ask someone privately) I'm so happy that you asked!

I've had luck with wearing 'skintoned' underwear (a pale, pale pink, in my case), and getting my pants a size too large, so they're not too fitted.

I have a friend who used weak tea to dye her white undies to a skintone color - haven't tried it, but it sure sounds creative.

The truth is, patients DO notice. I've heard them comment about one nurse who wears white pants and white underpants. You can see them and I've heard patients laugh about it.

There are also plenty of nurses that wear colored underpants...and it is very noticeable when you see someone bending over wearing green, blue, or hot pink underpants! Agh!

I wear beige/nude & don't have a problem, just get a larger top that extends below your butt.

My Professor - in- Charge said NO THONGS....you can see right through the white pants. We had a choice of either blue top/white bottom or blue bottom/white top

My husband sure likes looking at my thongs under white pants....

So, at the hospital it's nude for me. Need I say more?;)

Very true. Thongs are obvious under whites. So, yes the school has the right to say no.

We had a student who wore thongs under street clothes for psych. Every time she'd bend or squat even a little, the thong showed. And very male patient pestered her constantly. We tried to explain why, she just didn't get it.

We had one guy come in his whites one day wearing boxers his wife had given him; bright red lip prints. Poor guy did not live that one down for two years.

Hahahah on the boxers with lips ! Wow I would have razzled him as well!

Yes, but...from a philosophical point of view, with more women wearing thongs all the time, why is it that thongs are still considered "bad girl underwear" and therefore banned? I think if the school is that concerned with visible underwear, they should change the color of pants students wear. I personally don't think they have any right telling students what kind of underwear they can wear.

I wear nude/skin-colored thongs under my white pants, because I wear thongs every day, and I would be distracted by the feeling of "saggy panties" if I were to do otherwise on my clinical days. However, my pants are pretty loose and my tops are long enough to cover the top part of my behind (which covers the visible part of my thong since I wear high-cut thongs on clinical days).

As for looking like I'm not wearing anything underneath (aka, going "commando"), someone would have to be studying my behind and really thinking about my underwear to notice that. By contrast, there's a girl in my class who wears granny panties with prints and patterns under her whites, and every time she walks away, ALL YOU NOTICE is her butt because of it. Very distracting! I would rather NOT call such attention to my rear...

I always buy white Bobby Brooks brand pants for work. They have been the same price for years at Walmart, $9.88 a pair. You can't see through them, they don't need to be ironed and have good, strong seams and pockets

KarenAR, I am cracking up at your picture! My fellow student who I study with has that same picture of Brad Pitt and George Clooney in her notebook and busts it out when we need some inspiration! Thank goodness for good looking men and lots of luck to you in your venture :0)

-----Karen, I wear thongs to work. I do wear the nude/flesh tone and my pants are loose & tops long enough to cover the top part of my behind too. No one has ever told me that they could see them. My husband told me it wasn't noticeable at all. Most likely due to the type of pants I wear, a more dense fabric.

-----Yes, you will see nurses & techs working on the floor with visible panties...some are quite colorful (red, pink, bright green, burgundy all visible through their white pants etc..)...yep..prints & patterns as you mentioned. I find that worse than seeing someone wearing a beige colored thong.., because that is all you see when they bend over or all walking. But, to each to their own I guess.
