Confusing shoe restrictions!

Hi everyone!

Im looking for a little help finding shoes for nursing school( I start this coming august). I received my dress code list and I'm confused about what the school is asking. This is what they said:

" White professional shoes- NO canvas shoes, canvas sneakers, sling backs, or clogs may be worn. Shoes must be all white, leather, closed toe and heel and have a high vamp"

Please help me with shoe suggestions that meet their requirements!

really? Sounds pretty exact to me. They want you to have on leather shoes that totally enclose the foot. If you choose athletic shoes make sure they are not canvas. Did not mention color but I would go with white till you learn what is ok and not ok

It does say 'all white'. I agree, it's pretty straightforward. All-white shoes, that either lace-up or velcro (for the love of humanity, do NOT choose velcro! :) ) For example, the Reebok 'Princess' style meets the requirements.

Do not expect 'cute' - there are no cute shoes in nursing school. PS: but polish, you need to keep them spotless.

Yes, it is straight forward however I'm confused about what a high vamp shoe is? I should have given more detail as to which part I was confused, I was in a rush. I'm looking for shoes which meet the requirements as I have had my eyes set on a pair of dansko's, which I assume can be classified as clogs!

I love my nurse mates

Hey, there are some 'cute' shoes in nursing! Take a look at Paloma White Napa - Alegria Shoe Shop Exclusive! | Alegria Shoes or Alegria Debra White Leather | Alegria Shoes. Alegria's are uber-comfy also.

Dansko has The Dansko Professional XP from the XP collection.Check to make sure, but when they say "clog", they are usually only prohibiting an open back shoe.

A "high vamp" refers to covering the top of your foot. They mean shoes that don't leave most of the top of your foot exposed (no "toe cleavage" :)). Yes, Danskos are considered clogs and typically not permitted by school dress codes.

There are lots of all white leather/synthetic (but not fabric) athletic shoes that would fit the policy, plus the entire world of traditional nursing shoes. I always was happy with SAS and Nursemates.

Vamp is how high it comes up on your foot. Basically they wasn't it to cover the top of your foot well. I would think Danskos are acceptable.

My school says no clogs, but they mean the slip on type. Danskos with backs are acceptable.

The vamp of the shoe is where it cuts across your foot at the front. Thus low vamp shoes cut across the front of the foot near the toes, and high vamp shoes come up the foot and possibly up to the ankle.

I love my Nike Air Max. I'm a size 8 and bought a kids' 6.5. My feet never hurt and they are about as attractive as you can get in white.

When I read your post I was like, what on earth is a "high vamp"? Glad I could add something to my vocabulary repertoire. ;)

Your shoe requirements sound much the same as mine. I got Timberland Pro Renova shoes in all white. I think no clogs just refers to the slip in and out style, not the shoes that have backs.
