Confusing shoe restrictions!

Hi everyone!

Im looking for a little help finding shoes for nursing school( I start this coming august). I received my dress code list and I'm confused about what the school is asking. This is what they said:

" White professional shoes- NO canvas shoes, canvas sneakers, sling backs, or clogs may be worn. Shoes must be all white, leather, closed toe and heel and have a high vamp"

Please help me with shoe suggestions that meet their requirements!

Hi. I am not yet (next semester) in nursing school, but the closed back; closed toe/foot is an OSHA requirement for industries. It is the same if you work in a warehouse for example. The closed toe is for obvious reasons, if something falls on you - you will keep your toes. The leather is probably to prevent spills/body fluids I would think. The closed back is to prevent things from hitting your Achilles tendon. Hope this helps. Any suggestions for wide-flat feet? Like a (now) size 10ish but really wide? thanks

I believe the OSHA guidelines are for actual industry, not hospitals; they're written for places like manufacturing, or even places that use heavy equipment or weighty stuff that could get dropped on your feet, like pallets (I know OSHA regs are why military flight line workers and loadmasters - the folks who figure out how to get all the stuff on a military jet - have to wear steel toed shoes). Shoes for us seem to be more of an individual facility policy.

My school dress code specified "no clogs" but danskos were approved. They evidently meant no open back slip on style shoes, and no crocks style with an open back it holes.

I brought in pics of the shoes I wanted before school started and asked. We are 7 months into a 5 day per week, 8 hr per day program and these have served me well.

I bought 2 pairs of white danskos: 1 white pro xp and one regular pro.

i see lots of the following:

-white nikes (khols),

-Plastic/rubber crock style shoes with no holes. I think these have back straps, but an open back so they don't truly meet the guidelines. However, since our scrubs are long it hasn't mattered.

-White champions

-I've also seen white leather vans or converse

PS acetone (nail polish remover) cleans scuff marks well!

Nike shox also meet the clinical dress code, but they are usually narrow and can cost over $100-- same as danskos.

Skechers makes a dansko look alike.

I know many nurses and CNAs who love their skechers shape ups. I just don't like Skechers. But I keep hearing how comfortable they are.

HTH!

Thank you all so much for all of your suggestions/help!!!!!

I brought Champion white leather sneakers...only thing is that the "tongue" of the shoe is really thick fabric. Would that matter?
