Why do you come to All Nurses? is it for the information? the camraderie? to waste time? the jokes? relaxation? What reasons?

I come for the info and to get a feel for what the different fields are like. I also love the friendships that I have made here. This is my relaxation time (the only time I get) and I can learn something to boot!

I'm quite new here. I come here for most of the above mentioned reasons. Seems like a cool group of people gather here. Pam

During nursing school, I came to allnurses to take a break from studying. Now that I've graduated, I come to allnurses to take a break from studying (for the NCLEX). Sometimes it seems there is no end to the studying and allnurses provides a welcome break.

I've learned useful information from this site. During nursing school teachers would say "has anyone heard of the recent (fill in the blank with a recent nursing topic in the news)". The only reason I would have heard of the topic is because it would have been in the news section of allnurses or individuals would have been discussing the topic on allnurses.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that this place is really my "outside world" since I am a SAHM. With the three little ones, I don't get out much (though that will change in a week when classes start). I find my CPR class is my big "night out" so being here with all of you is my socialization. It is also very hard at my age to make new friends. Most people already have long term friendships established and don't want to let newcomers in. That isn't the case here. Makes me feel very welcome and cared about. I can sit down here and know that there will be someone to chat with and I won't be alone with my crazy kids anymore! LOL!

trust me kimmy, all of that is about to change. after 7/5, you will no longer be the sahm and will be creating so many more friendships, relationships and experiences...truly something wonderful and exciting for you and your family.

I work in a cubicle and hope to start nursing school next Spring. I come here to dream... :p OK...that sounds cheesy. I just enjoy reading the honest statements from people that will REALLY let me know what I am about to get myself into. AND it's addictive and a break from databases. UGH. :uhoh3:

Found allnurses by accident too..Googling for nursing info...this site is great :) so many things we try to talk to our spouses/friends about that they just don't UNDERSTAND..we understand each other here..we may not agree always , but can relate...you guys are great (((hugzzzzzzz)))

Tjello, that was me 12 months ago! I quit my job last August and started school later that month. I've learned so much about nursing from this site.

I like to catch the trends to stay up to date.

I was referred to this site by a few cyber-acquaintances.

I love reading the controversial threads and just love to stir them up a little!

I've probably gotten a terrible name round here, but somebody has to stir the pot! I'm really very easy to get along with and not too dumb so it's really not hard to work with me either. LOL

Love to get them riled up!

I come to this site for relaxation, the cameraderie of other nurses, learning, and because I have really come to consider you all friends. I never thought this forum would become such a part of my daily routine, but it has.

Also, you know when you come home from work with this great story to tell and you rush to your husband/wife/sister etc. and when you're done with the story, they just don't get it? You guys all get it! :rotfl:

You forgot 9. The pompous poster who routinely fails to respond to the substance of a post because s/he is too busy dissecting the message for spelling or grammar errors.
LOL!! No let me correct that. When someone realizes that they are losing an arguement and have no leg to stand on, they resort to picking apart the spelling and grammar of the poster they can't win with!! I do notice that quite a bit.

I love reading and learning from varied experiences in the nursing field. It's very inspiring.
