Meyers Brigg, Have you done it?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I know I have said this before, but I am currently in a new grad residency program in the emergency department. Recently we took a personality color test which I found to be super cool.

The test was made by Carl Chung, I believe his name is, and he determined that each person had a certain temperament that they were born with and it was associated with a color. I got the color orange and many of the other nurse residents who were going to the ER also got orange.

We each did this color test so that we could determine what personality we each had. Prior to doing this I had done the Meyers Briggs personality test and got an ESTP.

Have any of you guys done the Meyers Briggs? If so, what did you get? Most of my friends got an I instead of an E and we are all nurses.

Do you guys feel like your personality determines what area you will be in?? As stated I got an E and I am in the ER. So is there any correlation?? I know I love the pace and acuity of the ER, so I just wanted to see if there were any correlation between your Meyers Briggs and the unit you work in.

Just thinking...what are good specialties for INFJ nurses? I realize each person is going to be different but found the description of INFJ to be very accurate so I was wondering where others have found their niche..

Specializes in L&D.

I'm an ISFJ.

I work in L&D and postpartum.

Specializes in Behavioral Health.

You can take any test you like, neither Briggs nor her daughter Briggs Myers were scientists or even trained in psychology. Jung's theory of personality (like all early personality theories) is more guesswork than science, though Jung's is more like spirituality. So have fun with it, don't take it seriously. There's nothing about MBTI that's scientific.

I think everyone has taken it. Multiple times LOL

Specializes in Emergency, LTC.

ISTJ-A working in the ED. "The Logistician." I'm a functional introvert :)

ENFP 3w2 enneagram Red color personality

I have worked all kinds of things but am currently in psych. I would love ER or ICU too. I am changing to management though now

I'm an ENFJ, who's a firm believer in people. I'm working as a community health nurse & home care nursing supervisor on an Indigenous reserve up in northern Canada. Graduated from nursing school last year. ENFJ doesn't define a person entirely, but I know that being an E allowed my energy to channel to the community I'm working with.

Infp-t: I've worked in many different settings. Kind of like throwing something at a wall and seeing if it sticks. most things I can adapt to, a few I have loved, and a few have sent me running away FAST....gave me some really funny experiences to look back on though.

I am a Senior nursing student and just took this test out of curiosity after reading this post. My result is ISFJ: "The Defender". All descriptions of this personality type are spot on for me. Part of the description states that my personality type would strive in a field that serves others (like medicine/ nursing). Anyone else with this personality type?

Specializes in Surgical, quality,management.
ESFJ or ESTJ. The first one is the giver like

Caregiver, common Career RN of course. I forget the other one. I'm in critical care and previously infusion and oncology.

ESTJ nurse manager here. Always been the practical manager- provide the right equipment and tools to do the job. Keep the store room tidy, not intersted in things I feel are not relevant (reflective in my Masters those subjects that I felt were irrelevant were given enough attention to pass), like to organise (store room) standardisation of practices.

Specializes in Stepdown . Telemetry.
INFP - psych nurse. I did the Meyers Briggs when contemplating career change years ago. I also did the Highland Ability Battery, which was helpful but expensive.

Finally another INFP! Tough working in critical care - so maybe I am on the right track becuase I am planning my next move - PSYCH!
