I'm I crazy?

After working one year in a toxic environment I decided that I had to leave that hospital. I applied and got a call back from all of the hospitals I applied to within 2 weeks. It's crazy to think how valuable just 1 year can be to employers. For me I still feel brand new some days. It took me one year out of my ADN program to find a hospital job.

Here's the question tho: the job I accepted is 45 mins of highway driving on a good day. It is literally the highest ranked hospital in my area. I will be driving past other good hospitals to go there. The pay is higher and the benefits are great but it is a distance. So I'm I crazy?

No. 45 minutes is not that bad. I drive around 40.

I started working at a hospital that was an hour long commute. Some days, that turned into several more hours due to rush hour traffics or accidents on the only road with a bridge across the mighty river. I did it for 3-4 months and then moved closer. Is it doable? Yes. Is it crazy? Not really. Is it an annoyance? You betcha!

I'm I?

Yes, I'm me.

Man and I just started taking classes for my BSN too. Guess I'm going to need a lot of help. [emoji16] You should help me

That depends on what else you have going on in your life. My job is far away and I love it, but now that I have a newborn, I'm not sure I want to spend so much time on the road. It was getting tiring even before the baby ....but now it's just horrific to think about.

Yes, I'm me.

Please accept my sincerest apologies for such bad grammar. I would say I promise it wouldn't happen again but unfortunately I am human. [emoji4]

Definitely! I think having kids and/or a husband would make me not want to drive so far. I don't know what the future holds tho. Hopefully I will live closer in the years to come. I hope your situation gets easier soon as well.

No worries. I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar, but I often find that my fingers press the wrong buttons on my too-small-of-a-phone keyboard.

For me 45 minutes 2x day is a lifetime. But... 45" 2x day in a nice car in flowing traffic isn't nearly as hellacious as a so-so car in stop and go traffic. I might consider the former if it weren't a noc shift.

I will still be working night shift as well.
