Should I be a nurse: I am going to scream!:banghead: How in the HE double hockey sticks are we supposed to know what is right for you?? I am sorry if I sound rude not my intent, but it just makes me wonder, do you have to have all your decisions made by another person if so you ARE going to have a hard time being a burse. I am a EMT and if I had to ask someone to do XYZ before I do what I know needs to be done, I would have a poor patient outcome. Sorry but this is getting old

Somewhat related, Age + Florence Nightingale = "I'm 80 years old and have ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A NURSE, should I do it?"

Government/Military: "I've always wanted to serve our service members and bleed red white and blue, what do I have to do to get in? Completely unrelated, i'm drowning in debt"

Lastly, "I'm a pre-nursing student but I want to know which CRNA/NP program I should go for? I want to flee the bedside as soon as possible, so I have to get this RN crap out of the way asap"

I have a 2.0 GPA, a criminal record, and I'm pregnant. What are my chances of getting into nursing school? Should I wait to apply until after the baby is born? Should I wait until I'm paroled?

Also--do these pants make me look fat?

"Thanks for all of ur wonderful advice. I can't WAIT to be a nurse! Oh, but I forgot to tell everyone this-and I need your help PLEEEEEAAAASSEEE!!!!!

One time, I gave my BF some of my mother's Perkosets when he was complaining that his toe was hurting. (see, I knew exactly which drug to give for pain! I am going to be a GREAT nurse!) I watched an episode of Nurse Jackie and saw the way she skillfully crushed it up and then snorted it, so I told my BF to crush it first then snort it. That way it gets to the bloodstream faster, right? And pleaze don't everyone get on ur high horse. My mother had knee replacement surgery three days ago, so I don't think she should even be taking this anymore. I am actually doing her a favor by taking them away. If I hadn't done this, she would probably turn into a junkie and stuff.

Anyways, my BF got pulled cuz he was sorta sleepy and stuff, so the mean cop gave him a DUI. Oh, and since he crashed his car into a parked car across the street from our house, he had to go to the hospital. They did a blood test and found the Perkosets. The ER doc asked if he had a script (this confused me...why would he have a script? He's not in a play or anything.) and my BF told the doc that I had given him the pills. So now I have a different charge on my record, but I am SURE that the judge will see that I was being an Angel of Mercy by helping my BF. What do u think?"

This thread is the hightlight of my day :yeah:.

How about this one:

I have just been fired from my third nursing job, but I didnt do anything wrong!. I only made a kazillion med errors and cant get along with my co-workers becuase I know it all. I dont like to be told what to do, I call in sick every other day and they have a problem with that. All these older nurses are so mean and out to get me!!!! :lol2:

Oh, I love the threads that start out with, "My friend found themselves in a dilemma of sorts..." and then goes on into detail regarding the dilemma.

Dang, I can't even remember what I had for breakfast, much less a detailed description of an awkward situation that my friend found themselves in!

"I failed the CPNRE/CRNE 3 times, why won't they let me write it again? What can I do to make sure I pass it?"

The Canadian board exams can only be written 3 times.

Similar to pp- I love the "I failed the NCLEX 972 times! What should I do to review for the next time, even though I've already used every book/ class/ prayer out there?" And all of the responses that if they just remember to keep God in their studying and test taking, they WILL do it this next time! It's definitely God's will whether you pass the NCLEX or not- it has nothing to do with the fact that maybe, just maybe, you don't get it and possibly never will. (I'm not saying everyone will pass the first time and that it's unreasonable to need another try, or maybe 2, but there are some seriously ridiculous amounts of attempts around here.)

I wish we had a 3 try limit (or even 5 or some reasonable limit, instead of endless attempts). One of my co-workers went to school with someone that finally gave up after the 20th try!

After being home sick, this thread has made my morning...lol

And of course we are all soooo mean because it is pointed out that if you can't pass after 3 tries you missed something important in school.

My favourite threads are the "everyone at my new job is so mean and gossipy and no one works as hard as I do. I'm the only one who takes good care of the patients." And wonders what they can do to change everyone.

I want to tell them that usually, if EVERYONE is not talking to you, etc the problem is probably YOU. (yes, you Ms Perfect Nurse!)

And don't forget the mandatory "Now I know what people mean by Nurses Eat their Young" response anytime a new nurse is told that she is doing something wrong, needs to improve on something or needs to learn something.
