I am starting my last year of school and have a little extra cash from working this summer. I am looking at buying a new stethoscope and want a littman master cardio. But, should I really spend $140. I quess what I am really asking is it that much better than say a $75 littman?

I'd say that the quality of sound of the M.C. to the Littman is comparable to surround sound vs stereo.

i have a master cardio and believe it to be one of my better investments.

I own a Littmann Cardiology STC steth (excellent sound). It's a bit cheaper ($10 -20 less than Master).

I LOVE my Master Cardiology steth from Littman. It's really worth the money.

Go for it!

Wow, I didn't know a lot of you had Master Cardiology steths. That's cool.

I had a littman classic but of course it got stolen (by residents I'm sure) and then for months I've used those $2 connect-the-parts stethoscopes and I actually got used to it but I know now there's just no excuse and I need to buy a good littman, maybe the master cardiology!

You might want to wait and see where you will be working. In some areas you can not use your own stethescope for infection control purposes.

Actually, I just tried out the ULTIMATE steth--the Littmann 2000 electronic steth! A woman in my class is hearing impaired, so she has this stethoscope. It is unbelievable--you can hear every burble, crackle, thump, pop etc. (those are technical nursing terms).

Too bad it's like $400....

Yep....I have the master cardiology as well. :)

Look on Ebay-you can get them for 1/2 the price.
