I have a watch I can wash... what's the difference?

i think it says something to do with the links on metal fob watches, but maybe your right?

thanks for getting back though

It looks like a watch that is clipped to your top and doesn't have any links so it is easier to wash. After reading the info on the site it looks like the UK is trying to take control over superinfections such as MRSA and is starting a "bare-below-the-elbows" protocol of some sort. And this watch complies with it. Kinda neat I think, but I don't know if I would want to wear it. I just think it would be 'weird' looking down at my chest to take someone's pulse or check the time! Other than that I think it is a good idea!

I actually saw someone wearing one of these at work yesterday, thought it looked quite funky if a little big.

The pink one looks nice ...

Watches that pin or clip to you have been around since the 1800s. Wrist watches came much later.

Various nursing gift/uniform catalogs carry them. You can also find them with a websearch.

If it had an alarm/digital read/and indiglo for nights I might be interested.

The folks to answer this one would be our UK contingent. I had always thought that pinned-to-your-top nursing watches were the norm across The Pond. I always thought them a bit odd, myself. I feel naked without my wristwatch.

The concept of the nurse's watch (pinned to shirt, hangs 'upside down' so you read it while looking down) is as old as nursing, I believe. That's not the new part.

I decided against one of these watches when I found how HEAVY they were, hanging from a pin on my chest! Dragged my shirt down. Unpleasant.

However, if these new watches are lightweight--and they might be, being plastic--then I just might go for it. The metal links on ANY watch can harbor bacteria, so they're right about that. Even my nylon-band watch has metal bits, and I wipe it down with alcohol regularly, but still I wonder....

I think I'll see if I can get this watch in the US!

I wonder if anyone sells these from the US? I never saw them before.

I emailed the company asking for that. It doesn't hurt to ask

Any more updats on the watch?? I went to the web site, $13.37 shipped to the USA. Got to be a North American site
