Full timers-how many sick days do you use per year?

  1. On average?
I have never been full time -only casual and PT and I don't think I have ever been ill. BUT I am curious with working full time, if people are ill more? I would imagine so.

    None. I don't get sick.

I took two days last year, both as a result of a nasty GI outbreak I contracted at work.

Rarely more than three, though a couple of years ago I was off for seven weeks after breaking a bone in my hand

4 sick days in 14 years. I very rarely get sick and I only work 3 days a week so...just haven't needed much sick time. Plus, I'd rather use my PTO for fun.

My first year I finished with using only 3 sick days..and then it went downhill after that. I seemed to catch every bug that existed - strep, sinuse infection, roto virus, etc. That year I used 13. The next year my husband was in heart failure and we can use sick days for spouses. So that year sucked. This year isn't so bad...I think I'm at 4 right now. At 6 they give you a verbal. At 12 they give you a written.

I maybe average 3-5 days a year for ME but have taken more to be off with my husband for his various illnesses. Our union contract prevents management from doing anything to you unless you're in "lost time"(i.e., no sick time on the books available). Thoe who are in "lot time" often avoid discipline by getting FMLA
