Being micromanaged by a CMA?

Nurses General Nursing

One of the day medication aides is starting to literally micromanage everything I do and it's driving me insane. I'm so over worked and spread thin. im the only nurse in charge of 50 pt with no medication aide. So yes I may leave a darn medication rapper in the cart because I forgot to put it in the shredder. Or maybe I didn't date the applesauce that I just opened. Well now she's writing emails to the boss lady. I'm just fed up. Getting very depressed and frustrated here. I own up to my mistakes but I keep making them cause they don't staff me adequately. I think I've had it.

Specializes in Medical-Surgical/Float Pool/Stepdown.

Either the Med Tech has valid concerns (Disclaimer: I don't think there should even be med techs or MA's that can give medications so very personal opinion here) or Me thinks that this person sees you as a threat with/without jealousy and/or has way too much time on their hands with no sense of teamwork to help the workplace run smoother. Continue to strive to do your best for your Pt's but don't let this person take up space in your head.

Specializes in Emergency/Trauma/LDRP/Ortho ASC.

Oh helll no...no med aide would be writing me up for forgetting to label applesauce during a 50pt med pass. Stand up for yourself!

I am curious to know how your boss(es) responded to the medication aide.

I am more concerned that the medication aide has the time to report this stuff.

"Medication rapper" is putting quite a funny image in my head. I would probably just look at her and say, "Oh no!" every time she said something petty, but then harassing petty people is fun for me.

I don't know yet how my boss is gonna respond she is only here on my days off and hasn't called me. The med tech was telling the other nurses that she emailed her

Lol oops. Wrapper!

I don't even work with this girl she comes on the next day after my shift and so I have no idea why she is being petty im always very nice to her and like, well, everyone. I guess that doesn't really matter though :/

I am very good with patient care but due to my heavy workload.. Little non urgent tasks are something im working on. So she could have valid concern but I feel it may go beyond that. She has told other nurses things that aren't even true.

Be less nice. You are the nurse, she is...whatever she is that I've never worked with, thank God.

Holy cow. I just in all sincerity agreed with NoADLs.

Specializes in ICU, LTACH, Internal Medicine.

Written up for not dating applesauce with 50 patients under your care?

Well, I would seriously thinking about parting my way with this girl and this place ASAP. And take sick leave for the time remaining. And tell your boss why it is so.

P.S. take a look on MA scope of practice in your State, it should be available for everyone through Medical board which certifies them. If it is written there that MAs only allowed to dispense meds "under direct supervision" or not at all, you can safely report the facility.

I'm scared because I have improved greatly with charting small stuff, but sometimes still I forget to document little things. Like that I faxed stuff, task oriented things. I do the tasks but forget to document that I did them.. Except when it comes to really important things. I got myself a little note book to jot everything down.. I am aware that I need to improve that stuff.

This workload is insane I don't sit down I don't eat I spend all my days off stressed and then I go back in. I was gonna try to wait a year before leaving but I don't know how much longer I can do this. Instarted applying else where with only 7 or 8 months at this facility.

Once it looked like a missed med because I didn't document "refused" .. I was waiting til the end of the night to give it because she had been nauseated and we were waiting for it to pass so I could give it. Went back in at ten and she was still nauseated. Forgot to go back and document that. The med tech reported me. She seems to be watching everything I do.. I do not get recognized for all the good I do but I guess most nurses feel that way.

And the more stressed I get the more I efff up lol.

But I've never made a big mistake or put safety at risk.

Thanks for all the replies. I feel a little better
