LOL! How about "It sure is quiet in here tonight...."

Daughter calls nurse about mom who is staying with dad (the pt) 24hrs unrelenting in the hospital. "Have you asked mom if she's taken her 'nerve' pill yet? Cuz she went off on the nurses at the other hospital".

Some of those are pretty funny but I'm not a fan of "doctor bashing" to make nurses look better. Doctors have their own set of problems to deal with and just because we do different jobs does not mean one is better than the other.

I also found it interesting how they comment that nursing on TV is not like in the real world and they have a problem with shows like Nurse Jackie and HawthoRNe (which I agree, far to dramatized!) yet later on quote Nurse Jackie to make a point.

Specializes in Psych, EMS.

Why'd you choose a job where you wipe butts all day?

My own FIL said that. And his wife was a nurse!

You just got home, tired and stressed... and here's someone who comments...

"Don't you just give meds?"

DUH! :uhoh3:

I had a little boy (patient's brother) about 7 years old say "you're just like a maid" oye. I had to bite my tongue and remember he was a child.

Here's a comment from a resident that really ruined a nurse's day...

Joy,RN (the best IVnurse in dayshift) was requested to insert an IV to a "hard-stick" pt. The resident came, and asked... "Is Linda,RN (fr. nightshift) still here?" Joy told the MD to never ask for another nurse when someone is already trying; then, walked out of the room. :lol2:

i work in ltc.. whenever anyone says the word "quiet" all hell breaks loose. this also applied when i worked with kids and dementia/head injuries in a psych capacity.
