What are some of the funniest names that you guys and gals have seen at work? I'll start
Twins : Roderrick and Roderricka,
Twins : Autumn and Fall
Girl : Asshole (A-sole-lee)
P.s. This thread is just for fun.....
I actually kept a list a few years ago when I was working at a bush hospital in Zambia. We would go into villages and immunize hundreds of kids, so I saw quite a few names over the course of the summer. Apparently any English word will do! Some of my personal faves?Obvious
Emergency
Thankston
Champ
Matron
Progress
Mars
Ethelbert
Basin
Flex
Stew
Organ
Wand
Chunks
twins: Steve and Stevious
and a baby I delivered whose mother named her Marble
Wow, I understand that the parents may not know what the word means, but Chunks?!?!
While a lot of unusual names often times come from some parents being a little too creative... we have a baby on our unit who's name is definately more from the parents not being too creative...
Dad's name is Dante. They had a baby girl last December at 26 weeks, and named her Dantea (don-tay-ah). The baby went home sometime in April. This same Mom (who by the way is only 17), just had a baby boy, 25 weeks born just this week (don't even get me started on the logistics of that all...!!!). So what do they name him... Donte.
At least the parents are consistant!
Jihad (pronounced "jay had")
Geez, that kid's gonna hate it once s/he is old enough to fly. I'm sure some government computer program's gonna ban that person from being within about 3 miles of any airport or government building.

Shetara ( a preemie born in the toilet) pronounced (shi-tara)
That's just downright sad.

I kinda like "Thankston" and "Stevious". I wouldn't name my kid that but I think they're kind of cool.I actually kept a list a few years ago when I was working at a bush hospital in Zambia. Harry Wang (nope, not kidding)
My wife is a teacher and she is working on her Master's right now. She just finished a class on classroom managment and the guy who wrote the text book is named Harry Wong. Apparently he's a big name is education. She and all her teacher friends can't understand why I think that's so funny! :-) She says I'm like a middle school boy... :-)
De-Mentia (for preemie w/ high grade bleed, so sad)
Buck Hunter (middle and first name)
Tara Riser (middle and first names), BTW boy name for couple was Harley Outlaw. Gee, maybe next time!
My daughter's NICU neigbour almost 20 years ago was 11 lb. boy, Dea Nea La Marc
Springer (reminded me of Jerry and the spaniel)
We had a mom who REALLY wanted to name her baby girl "lady parts" (pronounced vahgeena).... we were like, please honey, no..........
I heard this name once before. A fellow NICU nurse said she took care of twins; one was Regina (Re-gee-na) and the other was lady parts (Va-gee-na). Lucky Regina!
I struggled with whether I should actually post this or not, but it's too good to pass up. Plus, it's absolutely true because it happened in my own family.
Background info: My family was (I say "was" because I no longer have contact with any of them) so dysfunctional that over the course of my life I've had three different psychiatrists actually cry over my life story and tell me "That is the most horrific childhood I have ever heard about".
So when I say that my mother is an absolute nut job who should have never been allowed by law to breed, don't flame me.
The last child my mother had (my half brother) was to be named after her husband's father, whose name was Martin Michael (first and middle name). As per hospital policy, moms are required to write out the name to ensure that the birth certificate is correct. So here's what she wrote and what appears on his birth certificate:
Martian Michelle.
Need I say more? :trout:

We had a set of "identical" boy/girl twins (according to moms dr!) named Serenity and Syruss.
