A friend that works in the BAYOU sent this to me.How do you pronounce this name Le-a?
Leah?? NO
Lee - A?? NOPE
Lay - a?? NO
Lei?? Guess Again.
It's pronounced "Ledasha" Oh yes...you read it right. This child
attends a school in Livingston Parish, LA. Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong. SO, if you see something
come across your desk like this please remember to pronounce it correctly. When the mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she
said "the dash don't be silent". OMG!!!!!!

How terrifying. I was just going to post the most awful name that I had ever heard of, with the obligatory disclaimer that it was so out there that I was certain that my informant had made it up. But lo and behold! Le dash ah lives! I heard it from a nurse who knows a teacher of this child. I'm in east Texas now, so this is either one hell of a rumor or the real deal. Of course after a couple of years in the NICU I've realized that you just can't make some of this stuff up. And while you may cease to be surprised you never stop being disgusted. All we can hope is that Le-a and Just Trouble (J.T.) will one day change their names legally to something normal so they can get a job. Pray for the children. The one positive aspect of these tragic names is that lots of them would make fabulous pet names. I've already decided to name my next cat Stevious.
p.s. Another traveler has sworn up and down that she took care of a baby named Poopylickles. Because the parents loved the cutesy nickname so much they made it the baby's given name. I hope that this is pure fiction, but have seen too many bad names to write it off out of hand. Anyone else heard of poor Poopylickles?
