Hi everyone, well I'm starting this convo so we all can get an idea of who, what, when, and where with FSCJ. Good topics would include testing materials, the average ranking of points for the upcoming term, and any other useful ideas that will help us all get into to this crazy hard nursing program! :) So, lets see if we can help each other out....and it's kinda fun to talk about nursing as well :)
Good luck and I hope you get in to! And dont worry that's a good score :) The NAT was hard for me too. But for study help...I've been studying the HESI and HOT exams for it...I first used the campus bookstore study guide and it didn't help me. So now I'm studying harder tests in hopes it will give me a better score. So il be retaking it. I know i can do better! Yay. Hehe. Anyways, I also applied to the summer program but they only have like 95 spots....SO. Idk. Lol. Il have 205 points if I get an A in micro without retaking. Ugh! And good luck to everyone else on this page! I've been reading all the posts and EVERyONE seems so nice! I was the one who started this post and i was a afraid at first that we would get some stinkers! but none so far
I think you ALL will be great nurses!
Hello everybody,I applied for summer 2013. I have 120 on pre-req and 76 on NAT
This is a total of 196
I really hope to get in. I am studying for NAT again in case I do not get accepted. Any tips about preparing for the NAT?
I am really worried:(
I think a 196 is a great score! Are you applying for days or n/w? I know the n/w tends to be a little more competitive to get into but either way I think you're in with an excellent chance.
As for the NAT, I tried using the book FSCJ recommended but honestly thought it was way too in-depth. I found a couple of practice NAT pages online which were the most helpful. I'll try and find the links and post them for you.

Rayanita - I didn't find that the NAT book was very helpful. It was too detailed and I personally found the format to be congested and not user friendly.
I think the real trick to the NAT is to remember that time is your greatest enemy. If you are a diligent student you might try to apply yourself to each question to ensure a correct answer. You need to be prepared well enough that you can simply breeze through the questions with your first instinct to the answers. Remeber points accumulate and you don't lose points for a wrong answer. So the goal is to actually have an opportunity to answer as many of the questions as possible. You can't do that if you are taking your time.
Further, I agree with abpeeler that you should try a study guide for a different/harder test. I studied for the TEAS V which is def harder. It has all the same topics except for the little shapes they throw into the NAT. I used the TEAS V study guide produced by ATI, the Princeton Review - Cracking-Nursing School entrance exams and the McGraw Hill Study Guide with 5 practice tests.
McGraw-Hills 5 TEAS Practice Tests: Kathy Zahler: 9780071767774: Amazon.com: Books
After preparing for the TEAS V I found the NAT to be pretty stress free. I ended up with 107 points on the NAT. I know you can get a much more satisfying score, especially since you earned120 points for your GPA. Good Luck

Hi everybody
I just applied for days with 209. I still have microbiology to do this semester. Im excited! I want to let future applicants know that the deadlines have changed effective next semester. It might be a good idea to pick up an updated packet.
Fall term Feb 1- April 1
Spring term June 1 - August 1
Summer term October 1 - December 1
Is anyone getting a headstart on the to do list?
SpringNurse - I noticed that the web and the application packet had conflicting deadlines. Does this mean that if an application is not already submitted for the Summer 2013 semester then it is too late? [Dec 1st deadline]Nice score with a 209 without Micro added in :)
Thanx:-)
I just called the nursing office and they said they are letting summer applicants apply until February 1 but applicants afterwards will use the new deadlines. Fall 2013 can start applying Feb 1 to April 1. Hope this makes sense :-D
The updated nursing packet was actually updated in October of last year...that's why I was so confused when I was applying for the Summer 2013 program. :(I emailed the updated packet to a couple of you so don't worry :)The web page still has the old dates unfortunately so don't go by those. I'm not sure why they changed the dates? Kinda poopy
Hi everyone:Has anyone just recently taken the NAT for FSCJ 2013 Summer Program? If you have, any advice on the format and difficulty of the test. How was the MATH & SCIENCE
Thanks
Pepsi700 - you should read back through this conversation string. There are allready posts on this topic. As far as the math and science go, you need to make sure you know them both. If you are slow in your math or you know your science but only marginally, you will need to practice them both. You should prepare so that the answers come easily because the NAT forces you to answer quickly in order to accumulate points.
As I stated in an earlier post I didn't care for the NAT book. I used other resources and it paid off for me, my scores were good on the first attempt. I studied reading, math, science and grammar for about 3 months prior to my first attempt. I had also heard ahead of time that I needed to keep moving through the test so I was mentally prepared for that component.
Good luck - :) .... see my post from the 15th, it has links to the books I used for studying.

@Dizzymoose she likes it a lot. She said half of her class has failed already, the only negative thing I have heard her say was that the test are very difficult. Thanks for the luck I was accepted to Kaplan but I want to see what luck FSCJ brings me. Good Luck too you as well.
