HELP!! with my purpose statement for fnp school
This. I would recommend explaining why you want to be an FNP. What about the FNP role appeals to you? How will you be able to serve patients better in an advanced practice role? I would also explain a little about your decision for FNP versus ENP given your extensive ED background. Best of luck

St. Vincents RN Residency - Jacksonville
I don't think so. They may have a requirement that you start working on your BSN within a certain timeframe through as they are working towards Magnet status. St. Vincent's has always been the most ADN-friendly hospital in town.

St. Vincents RN Residency - Jacksonville
I love it there. It was the only hospital I applied to because I love the culture they have cultivated in the community. We did recently go through a lot of upper management restructuring so there have been some bumps along the way but those kinks are being worked out. I'm actually leaving next week, but not because I want to leave St. Vincent's...just because I'm starting grad school and an office job will be a little easier on my study schedule. I will miss it immensely though and hope to practice there when I have my ARNP.

St. Vincents RN Residency - Jacksonville
St. Vincent's is rolling out their program this summer!! It's a well designed program and should be a great start for a new grad. I work there right now and know one of the educators who is spearheading the residency program.

Jacksonville University FNP Fall 2016 Hopeful
I don't have a lot of nursing experience (18 months at the bedside in an acute care setting) but I had almost 9 years of experience running the front office of a medical practice. Graduated ADN with highest honors. Graduated BSN summa cum laude. Some volunteer activity but not a huge amount. I think they really use the interview as a big part of their acceptance process. Best of luck to you.

BSN Pay in Florida
I think it is also dependent on where in Florida you are looking. I have heard from numerous people that South Florida (Miami area in particular) pays poorly. North Florida (Jacksonville area...where I am) will pay a new grad BSN around $25/hr in an acute care setting.

Accepted to FNP program...now what?
Thank you for your guidance. I too will be going to a brick and mortar school one day per week. We don't start clinical hours until the second year so that will help me to get my study habits in check before incorporating clinical hours into the mix. I'm very determined and worked full-time while doing my associates and bachelors so I'm no stranger to hard work. I know it can be done...and I'm committed to doing it well!! Thank you for your encouragement.

Accepted to FNP program...now what?
Yes, I'm working!! Currently full time (3x12hr) days at the bedside on a tele unit. I'm exploring other employment options for a more fixed schedule (4x10hr) in an office setting which I think would promote better study habits. If that doesn't come to fruition I also may consider going to PRN and working only 2x12hr per week. Thank you for your reply

Accepted to FNP program...now what?
I don't have a list of required texts yet. However, I will certainly look into the books you recommended. I've had several people tell me to make sure I take time to spend with family, etc. so I'll certainly be doing some of that!! I'll be going to Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL. Thank you for your reply

Accepted to FNP program...now what?
I found out last week that I have been accepted into my first (only) choice MSN-FNP program starting this fall. I realize this will be a tough program to get through, even though I'm taking the part time track, and would like to do whatever I can to best prepare myself. I have already bought and have started reading "Clinical Pathophysiology Made Ridiculously Simple" to brush up on basic pathophysiology concepts. I have also read that Lehne's pharm book is worth reading as well (next on my list). Is there anything else you would recommend for me to prepare to excel in my program? Thanks in advance.

How do you know whether you were accepted to FT or PT? I applied for the PT track and assume that's what I was accepted for but the acceptance letter doesn't specifically say...
