FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED

Published

Okay here we are!!!!!!

I think the prices at Northside Clinic have gone up just a little bit since last term. I have health insurance, but I called for a friend today and priced everything we need done.

Physical - $165

MMR - $30

Varicella - $30

Hep B - $25

TDAP booster - $50

Flu vaccine - $25

PPD - $12

Drug screen - $26

Total - $363

thank you for posting this! i have insurance too but they don't cover blood work until you've met the detuctable. i was going to the UNF clinic to get the titters done, but i'm going to cancel my appointment and go here! only 85 for the titters? it's 130 at UNF.

but i can't believe they charge 165 dollars just to see if you can touch your toes and bend your thumbs.

i already got my physical and ppd done at my doctors office. have to go back monday morning to get the results.

thanks again!

Here are the ISBN's for the 6 books that we need that are not in the box:

9780803615595

9780803623095

9781435454101

9781437745108

9780135074053

9780803623132

Hope we can find some good prices for these books:)

FYI- the ISBN ending in #5108 we can't buy seperately, that is an access code that comes with the box. Also, I'm not getting the one ending in #5595- that is the Taber's Medical Dictionary and I already have a medical dictionary, also I've been told by several people that they never even use it, because you can google the definitions. The rest of the books I priced with Amazon Student, Chegg and FSCJ and the best prices were at Amazon student- you can buy new for almost the same price as used at FSCJ and the rental price at Chegg is only a few dollars cheaper, so you might as well buy new from Amazon student, especially because we might need the books for more than 1 semester and by time you rent it for two terms you would be paying more to rent it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that for the white scrub pants someone on another thread had mentioned that "Koi" are the best. I actually went and got 2 pairs at "The Uniform Outlet" in the St.Augustine outlets. They are so comfortable and cute. They cost a little more ($24.95) but so worth it. Oh and also, it was suggested to me to get the stethoscope off ebay. They are really cheap and they work fine.

thanks! i'm going to go down to the outlet sometime this weekend and check it out. i'm a little hesitant when it comes to ordering clothes without trying them on first.

any word on good shoes?

I am days too. I will check back to see if others will post and maybe we can all get together somewhere to meet. I look forward to it. :)

hey i'm days, and i saw a few other people on here for days. we should try to meet sometime during that first week of august! can't wait to meet you!

I think we are all going to try to meet up at Panera Bread in Town Center on Aug. 1, has anyone decided on a time yet?

I just came from there and my physical was only $40. For everything except the flu shot, I paid $223. I wish I had better veins though, because my right wrist is killing me right now. People always have trouble locating my veins and today was the worst. The doctor actually ended up taking it from my left wrist with the usual (for me) butterfly needle but only after digging in the right wrist with a regular size needle. Other than that it was fine, the lady doing my work was really sweet and never hurt me once, even when she tried each arm.

On a side note, if I can't make it to the meet up at Panera, I don't think I'll mind because I met so many future nurses in the waiting room this morning. :)

:DHey guys, yes the physical is only 40 dollars. I opted OUT of the Hep B titer, because the price for the shots will be 50 dollars per series so I figure I will just go to the Health Dept. to get the shots cheaper. Another thing is you do NOT need the flu shot, people were in the waiting room that heard that straight from Cheryl Porter's mouth. There was definitely a long wait, but well worth it. I got everything I needed done for under 200 bucks. Now the wait for results and to get all the other stuff done.....

Plus, on a huge positive note. My cousin who is an ER nurse at Shands Jax is giving me her Littman Card. III stethoscope! So stoked :jester:

just to confirm what jennirie posted, the physical is only $40. when i called to get the prices, i told her i was a nursing student to see if there was a package deal or anything, and she still misquoted me the $165 for the physical. just got back from clinic with flladybug. saw jennirie up there and lots of others. what was that smell?!?!?? my blood draw experience was fine, but people are not kidding when they say tetorifice shots leave your arm sore, oweee.

*****fyi****** not sure if this has already been posted, but we do not need the flu shot, per ms. p (contact person in your packet regarding immunizations). it's the old strain anyway, and she said they meant to take that off the sheet but that we will probably have to get one in the fall when the new one comes out.

ahaha JINX ladybug. We posted at the exact same minute :lol2:

Is it a for sure thing that the tops have to come from Meridy's? Even if you purchase a white uniform top and put the FSCJ patch purchased separately from Meridy's on it? Thanks for clarification.

Okay I have a couple of things.

1. It looks like from all the posts that we are all going to meet at Panera in the Town Center on August 1st. How about 12:30pm?

2. What blood pressure cuff is everyone buying?

3. Are you guys buying your books from Amazon now? Are we sure the books haven't changed. I just want to make sure before I buy them all.

4. I LOVE having this thread! I'm able to get such great infroamtion from everyone. Thank you all for being there! I can't wait to meet everyone and put a face with a "screen name" :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Melissa

LGB, I'm not sure about the uniform top question.

As far as meeting goes, 12:30 that day is fine by me. I think it was meltingpoint who said she couldn't do that day because she and her boyfriend are celebrating. I would like for her to be able to come, too, but I don't think there will be any one day that we could pick on which everybody would be able to attend. Maybe bring your boyfriend. I'm sure we won't be there too, too long...maybe an hour?? I don't know, but most everybody seems to agree on the 1st.

I just posted an invite on the Summer 2010 Accepted thread. I sent a few PMs, and I'm going to send a few more. I told them it looked like Aug. 1st, but that we hadn't finalized it yet.
