FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED

U.S.A. Florida

Okay here we are!!!!!!

oops, posted to the wrong board! lol

I had an appeal for the 150% and after turning in my appeal paperwork, they called me back to go in and see an adviser. When I saw the adviser, all she asked for was my acceptance letter and approved the appeal right there on the spot. Just get the paperwork in and get the ball rolling...:)

WilburW, can I ask about the 150% appeal. Was it because you had a degree already or just took more classes. I have a B.S. already and FA denied me. Where did you go to see an adviser? Was it at the North campus?

Thanks for any info you can share.

This is to anyone who is kind enough to share their experiences while studying nursing at FSCJ. I am planning on going in the Summer 2012. Did you guys have to have a laptop while in school? Is the laptop required? I want to know before I'll invest in one. About the books - I learned that there is a box of books I have to buy. Are these books good for the entire program (4 Terms) or do I have to buy a box of books every term?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and replies.

I am Term II...the box set is for Term I...We didn't have to buy a 'box' for Term II, just 5 new books. The laptop is not required but if you love technology, a laptop and the e-books will be a must...the ebooks save you hours and hours of work when you are completing your assignments.

Hi I am currently in Term 3. The box of books were for Term 1, for Term 2 I only purchased the Adult Health Books which were 2 and my Psych book. Lap Tops were not required, the only time I brung my lap top to class was to look at the powerpoints if I didnt print out the powerpoints for lectures, also I only used the ebooks 1st term and after that I didnt really use it. But everyone is different. You just have to find what works for you. Good Luck :)

KT2010! haven't 'seen' you in a while! :)

how's term III so far? any pointers on Psych and AH I for my 2nd term in?

Hi!!!

Term 3 is going pretty well so far. We had our dosage calc test today which had everybody nervous because bu term 3 we have to get a 90% to pass. I have clinical orientation tomorrow at St. Vincent's. The professors that do the lectures are really fun! The whole program has just went by so fast.

Term 2 was very stressful because of the 2 day clinicals in Adult Health 1 and they were back to back. A lot of long sleepless nights trying to get those care plans done. In AH1 we had quizzes every morning that were worth 2 points a piece I think and there were 5 of them. Psych was so much easier than AH1. I enjoyed Pysch, although it was little bit intimidating going to a 12 hour clinical shift at a Psychiatric Hospital not knowing what to expect but it was fine. The HESI for Psych was easier than AH1 HESI. I can say that coming out of AH1, i felt much more knowledable about the meds, care plans and the IV skills. My clinical instructor was really tough but it was for our benefit.

Which are you taking 1st Pysch or AH1?

taking psych first...going to my 1st clinical tomorrow.

Question: the psych lectures/PP seem so vague...how much detail are we really expected to know for the exams/HESI? Did you start prepping for the HESI early?

sounds like I will need to drop work hours to part-time for AH1...I am so rusty on the CarePlans...haven't had to do one since before Christmas break and won't have to do one until March! :uhoh21:

Yes, the Psych powerpoints were very vague out of all the classes I have taken those psych pp's I did not use. I read the chapters and made up my own study guide, but the Psych info was easy to learn, read the chapters and listen in lectures and you should be fine. I didnt do any extra prep work for the HESI. What I have learned from HESI though is to pick the 1st answer that you feel is right and move on. I would stay on a question, switching my answers back and forth and ended up getting the question wrong. I did much better on the Pysch HESI by answering and moving on to the next question qucikly. ;)

so there is no way around all this reading?? lol

ok, I guess I will give in and start reading tonight.

well, good luck this term! I send you a friend request so I can probe your brain later in the future!
