FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED

Published

Okay here we are!!!!!!

August 1st works for me to meet everyone too. Just FYI regarding stethescopes--Stat-Line says that they have one that is very similar to the highly priced Littman Cardiology III but it's only $80 instead of $169. They were out today, but said they would have more in the next couple of weeks along with a BP cuff that they sell for $17 I believe they said.

I also got the Littmans Cardiology III for $130.00 at allheart.com

I had an appeal for the 150% and after turning in my appeal paperwork, they called me back to go in and see an adviser. When I saw the adviser, all she asked for was my acceptance letter and approved the appeal right there on the spot. Just get the paperwork in and get the ball rolling...:)

I turned in my appeal yesterday, before I got my acceptance package. Should I go back and show them my acceptance letter, because when I turned it in they asked if I had been excepted and I said not yet.

i used the fccj one that came up. i sure hope that was the right thing to do? i ordered from allheart the stethoscope they suggest littmans cardiology iii with name engraved, my shoes, pocket protector, i d holder, and i can't remember what else right now, but everything was cheaper than meridy's.

yes, that was the right thing to do. i spoke with the clinical liaison this morning and she said they were supposed to update their name but they had not done it yet. just to let everyone know to get your fingerprints there are 3 ups locations that you can go to. you choose which one when you pay online. i went to the one downtown and they were wonderful! you can get your fingerprints done and your picture at the same time (they give you a student discount so it is only 7.99+tax instead of 12.99). i ended up leaving work at 2 today so i could get some of the stuff done. i can't believe i was able to do so much in so little time. i only had to wait about 5 min at the northside clinic to do my drug test and i went at 4:00pm today. also, if you want to try on one of the polo's before you order it they have some at north campus that you can try on or you can just go to florida promo and try it on and buy it right then. they didn't have any today but she said they would be getting more in tomorrow. oh, and another heads up it takes 5-7 business days to get the results from your titers back so don't delay on that.

I am wondering the same thing. I have been under review for 2 weeks now. Who do we go to see about that?

Hello, I just thought I'd drop some info on the worksource program. I went earlier this month to the orientation. Got all my paperwork in and they pay up to $7000 dollars for the R.N. Program. All the paperwork they ask for is already in your posession. The only requirement is that you have been either laid off, denied unemployment benefits, pending unemployment benefits, applied for unemployment benefits. They do not ask about income from a spouse. This is scholarship money based on re-employment strategies, not based on household income. The representative told me that they will be doing sign-up on the 19th for FSCJ. I am advising that you go to your nearest worksource center and sign up NOW! He said that I am now ahead of the game. They provide vouchers, monthly stipends for gas depending on how far you live from the North Campus (I don't qualify for that) and will pay for your uniforms, tuition, books and possibly nurses kits and stethescopes. Even if you don't think you qualify, the most you can do is try and the worst that can happen is they say you don't qualify. So just go down there NOW and get your paperwork started.

Worksource also told me about "displaced homemakers" which she said I may be qualified for, which would be great because I am definitely that! I am just glad I have family that is helping me....(after more than helping me for a year) and now that my birthday is coming up I have the perfect presents to ask for, a stethoscope and a BP cuff. Haha

Well, I just cannot stop posting on this board! Does the uniforms HAVE to be purchased through Meridy's?

Not the pants. But the tops do. Unless you can get some from orientation that have been donated and then you can just buy the patch.

This may have been asked already. Hopefully someone knows. The box of books that we are supposed to get for $600, will this be available after orientation as well? Thanks :nurse:

As of now they don't have them in, but should by orientation, but they told me to be prepared to pay out of pocket for the books, since we won't be registered for our classes yet we might not have a book voucher yet. I hope we have a book voucher especially considering everything else we have already paid out of pocket for.

I hope so too!! They are not giving us much time to get everything together and thinking of having to come up with another $600 is a little stressful.
