Friend kicked out of Nsg school now I'm worried...

Many schools are like that. I am in the RN program at my school and we are required to maintain a 78% to pass. I am only going into my fourth week of my first semester, but so far so good. I have gotten all A's on my first 3 tests. It is a lot of pressure to know that you have to maintain high grades, but if this is really what you want, then you can do it.

in the RN program I am in you have to maintain an 80. I don't have a hard time with it, but there are many who did (and didn't pass first semester). Its stressful, but doable.

What kills me is keeping up with all the outside of class work and finding time on top of that to get all the studying done I need to.

Try not to let your friend's experience get you too freaked out. Yes you have to study and stay on top of things but it is doable!

like others have said that how nursing school is. if you dont make the grade you get kicked to the curb. if it is meant for you you'll make grade. many have why wouldnt you. just study your books and be dedicated

It is doable. I am in my 3rd week of my first sememster of nursing school and we have to have an average of 75% on all our tests in order to stay in the program. We've had two tests so far and I've passed them both. You simply have to put in a lot of studying and learn to priortize your time. You can make it!

When you know the average you have to maintain, that just gives you a benchmark to keep above. It really doesn't matter if you're .1% above or 20% above, as long as you pass. My philosophy? C=ADN.

I'm about 5 months into an LPN program & what I've learned is it's very doable if you attend class, do your homework, & study. The key is to manage your time. There's no magical thing that will get you thru it.

If you're at least of average intelligence, you'll make it if you do those three things. No medical background is needed, either. Good luck.

I need to get a 79 in order for me to pass nursing at my school. You should not worry about what happened to your friend. If you have good study habits, you will be fine. If you go to every class, read ahead, study and record the lecture, you should be able to retain at least 80% of the materials. I do not focus on the 79, I try to get 100% on every test.....but I usually get 93 on the exams. Good luck to you.

A friend from work was recently kicked out of the LVN program because she had an average of 74.4 and according to her, you must have at least a 75 at that particular school. I am planning on entering the LVN program here in Austin probably in Spring 2008 and according to their site, I must maintain an average of at least 77 in all nursing courses. This worries me because although I was an A-student in all non-science classes, I studied a lot for A&P and got by with low C's. I would like to know how much of a struggle it is to maintain a passing grade in an LVN program...I didn't realize it was that strict.

In our RN program, the passing limit was 78. Many students had to repeat a semester, some got discouraged and dropped out, and others passed through without any problems. You never know which person you will be until you get into the program. Don't get worried until you have to! Good Luck!

Well that is just how nursing school is, but don't let it scare you. We have to have a minimum of 76% at my school (and they do NOT round up) for all lecture tests before they will even add on anything else (projects, papers, quizzes, presentations, etc).

Yes, we have lost some from the first semester, but most of us made it, a lot of us did very well! There are people in EVERY degree program that don't end up with the degree, it is not just nursing.

And you do need a good grasp on your sciences since you will be using especially anatomy and phys everyday (I know we do). You need a good basic understanding of chem (acid/base, labs, etc). I took physio many moons ago and had to review a lot before each section (right now I'm going back over the neuro system since that is what we are studying now in class).

Don't worry, just study!

Plan to put forth the effort from Day One....if you don't get something, ask for help -- beforehand, not after....read the material, pay attention in class, get your sleep, and study, study, study....it's not a cakewalk, nor should it be with what we're going to be responsible for...but it IS doable...look at all those who went before you!!
