Urgh! I am so mad I could just scream right now!:( I started classes today in CA. 1st up is Micro, very important right now, last class I need to have done to apply for spring RN program, all others I can take during program. I get there @ 9am with 30 other students. After waiting 10 min for instructor, dean shows up and tells us the class is probably going to be a victim of the budget cuts! They can't find anyone to teach the class. So we students are pretty much screwed. Because of budget cuts state wide, most colleges are not offering as many courses. This class was the only one being offered at this college. Other colleges 30 min -1hr away, they are all full! I just wanna cry, this means I won't be able to apply for the spring RN program, I will have to wait until fall! It's really sucks! okay thanks for listening to me vent....

We have budget cuts here as well in Oklahoma but it has not affected my school, just tuition increases and I know the science department has had problems buying certain things because not enough money.

I wish you all luck, that sounds like it is very frusterating!!!

We pay $52.50 a credit hour here btw.

Holy Heck!...I should NOT have read this thread....I feel like I am taking it up the tail pipe!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just paid $2900 for 13 credit hours!!

Costs in the neighborhood of $220 credit hour. What the heck? With fees, some of them quite ridiculous I might add, it was 4,000 total for the semester.......... SIGH

micro is offered on the internet.

I have never heard of school being so cheap in my entire life...lol!Here in FL it's $49 a credit and in NYC last I re-cal it was 130 a credit at any school...

What is going on in CA? Danm you guys are having a hard time... Budget cuts are everywhere but you guys are having the bad end of it...

keep fighting...

Also, LUNAKAT can you sign up at a private college to take that one micro class you need? I know it might be expensive but try to look into it...

Wow!! That is cheap in CA! It is close to $70 per credit (up to 12 credits) and then $180 per credit hour above that. And this is a state university!

Here in Pittsburgh, CC is about $79.00 a credit plus other fees.

When I was at PSU it was in the hundreds per credit.

You guys in California are lucky that it is that cheap, maybe it makes up for your cost of living?

I hope they raise the amounts of financial aid available to you offset the increase.

I'm sorry thrat you have to go through this. That's terrible that they can't find one professor to teah Micro.....:o . I hope things work out for you.

I am trying to figure out the unit stuff. My dtr enrolled in a college and it is 5600 for 5 classes. Your rate does not sound bad. Could you explain a unit?

renerian

a unit is, hmm, lets see...a credit might be a better way to say it.

(IE:) Chem, 4 units (or credits)

Chem lab 1 unit..

Hope that clears some of that up for ya! :)
