forunate to be torn between two job offers

I'd like to hear what everyone's opinion is regarding my two job offers. first is ICU nursing at Kindred hospital(LTACH) which is 15 mins away from my house, day shift.

Second one is ICU at a magnet hospital in a short term acute with amazing reputation but drive is 1 hr away and it's a night shift.

I do have an infant at home, pay rate is pretty much the same. Benefits are comparable so it doesn't play a huge factor. What do you nursing fellows think? Which hospital would you work for???

Day shift, close to infant, equal pay = no competition.

Review the recent thread regarding Kindred.

Couldn't agree more...

You will eventually leave Kindred to go to the other one. You might as well skip that step and start working on your seniority so you can go to the day shift someday.

1 hour is a long way to drive after a night shift. Dangerous, choose the close one. They are both ICUs.

What shift does your SO/whoever watches your baby work? If your person works day shift, I would work night shift so you don't have to pay for childcare. You can save a lot of money that way.

Unless you don't like to sleep, that doesn't usually work. Someone has to be awake during the day with the baby. I did that for awhile but only worked one or two days a week and never back to back. It still sucked.

That's a good point, but thankfully my MIL watches her for us. My husband has 9-5 office hrs.
