Hi! I'm a registered nurse in the Philippines. I really decided to join this website because I have so many questions in mind that is bothering me right at this moment. This is regarding my plans of working in Illinois. I will be taking the CGFNS exam this July. In God's grace to pass, I'm planning to take IELTS exam and apply for an NCLEX examination. I would just like to ask an advice from you if what exam should I take first? Is it the IELTS or apply first to NCLEX? And how many months does this application will be approved by the Illinois BON? Because I've heard from my friends that it will took us a couple of months for our application to be approved by the Illinois BON for us to take the NCLEX exam. Is it true? I suggest that you work first your CES because they need that to be ready before CTS starts processing your papers.

I am an RN from the Philippines. I have applied for Licensure in the State of California and have passed the NCLEX-RN exam. I don't have a license yet since the BRN is waiting for my SSN which I currently do not have. I have already been issued a VisaScreen Certificate. I am planning to work in Illinois and I have some questions regarding the licensure process:

1. Since I already have a VisaScreen Certificate, I would like to confirm: I don't need to apply for the CES anymore, correct?

2. In lieu of the educational requirement (CES+English Exam), the VisaScreen Certificate is the only document that the IL BON needs and I don't have to submit a CGFNS Certification Program Certificate anymore?

3. If I am going to provide the VisaScreen Certificate Proof of Issuance, should I instruct CGFNS to send this to me and include this with my application packet that I will send to IL BON; or should I ask them to send this Proof to IL BON directly? Is this Proof of Issuance the same as the VisaScreen®: Verification of Certificate Letter which verifies that a VisaScreen® Certificate was issued?

4. I will send CT-NUR to California Board of Registered Nursing. Do I need to also send CT-NUR form to the Professional Regulation Commission in my home country, the Philippines, for verification of my license here?

5. Regarding the fingerprinting process: I understand that I have to submit a fingerprint card to one of the agencies that IL BON enlisted on the last page of the Instruction Sheet. Aside from the FP-NUR form, am I required to send to IL BON the official receipt that will be given by Identix or similar group? Should I ask them to send IL BON the official receipt; or the FP-NUR would be enough and I should keep the receipt at home?

Sometimes it is worth asking questions to the BON as they in the end have final say so may as well get it from the horse's mouth

I agree with you. I e-mailed them already before posting on this thread. My email account told me that the email addresses do not exist anymore. I checked the BON's website and they don't post their email address. I tried using their 'contact us' page, but it seems it doesn't work anymore, too. So if there are people who know the answer to my question, I'd appreciate an answer. (Meanwhile, I will ask them by standard ground mail.)

If you go to the section called Profession Regulation under the IDPR site, you scroll to the Nursing, Registered box, and then if you move down that page there is place to send an e-mail to them, it does not give the address there, but you can complete the form and send it to them directly from their site.

Just filling up my CES application form. Hope you could help me in some of my questions:

  • AUTHORIZATION TO RELEASE INFORMATION form- what should i write below the AUTHORIZED AGENT? Such as follows:
    • Contact name,
    • Organization name
    • address
    • telephone as such.

    [*]What is the best mode of payment? Bankdraft or Credit Card (through the Credit Card form included in the CES packet)

    [*]APPLICATION FORM:

    • QUESTION #9 : where will I get my Citizenship ID Number?
    • QUESTION #12 :
      • I understand that for the Pre-Health Profession Education, it's from your elementary up to highschool. Question is: Do I need to pass both of my elementary and highschool diplomas that I have here presently or do I still need to request from my alma mater those diplomas? (All are written in "tagalog")
      • For the Healthcare Education, since I studied in 2 nursing schools (just to finish my course)
        • Do I still need to indicate the 1st school I entered my nursing? (though I did not finish my nursing course there since I transfered to another school)
        • Are there any instances that they will question your 1st school since you did not finish your course there and not earning a diploma?
        • Correct me, I only need to pass the one form of the Request for Academic Record for CES to my 2nd school where I finished my Nursing degree right?

      • We only need the Healthcare Profession and Science Report right?
      • Do I still need to have a CGFNS Language Report: English? I want to take IELTS instead of TOEFL IBT, will this help in order TOEFL-iBT be waived?
      • Is there any other requirments needed to be requested at CGFNS?

Sorry for my very long questions. I hope you can help me with this matter since I'm having a hard time filling this up (not to mention that I'm also having a hard time filling up the Illinois Application form). Much appreciated!

I have few concerns here. I already passed all the necessary documents to CGFNS and CTS as well, I checked my CGFNS status online and it says there that REPORT ISSUED and it's already mailed to my recipient (CTS). Now I am wondering if I should receive any mail or email from either CTS or CGFNS stating that my report was issued already or any mail that CTS already received my report?

Another thing, someone told me that if my report is issued already, I should register for pearson before I can receive my eligibility?

CTS will mail you telling that they have received your documents.. they will also tell you if you still lack documents...

I suggest that you wait first for your eligibility letter before you register for pearson.

i already received a letter from cts, it says there that i have 1 missing doc which is my ces report, but that was before my ces was issued.
