Hi! I'm a registered nurse in the Philippines. I really decided to join this website because I have so many questions in mind that is bothering me right at this moment. This is regarding my plans of working in Illinois. I will be taking the CGFNS exam this July. In God's grace to pass, I'm planning to take IELTS exam and apply for an NCLEX examination. I would just like to ask an advice from you if what exam should I take first? Is it the IELTS or apply first to NCLEX? And how many months does this application will be approved by the Illinois BON? Because I've heard from my friends that it will took us a couple of months for our application to be approved by the Illinois BON for us to take the NCLEX exam. Is it true? Thanks ahead for your reply... God bless!!!

Hi and welcome to the site
I suggest you have a read through this thread and if necessary try the search facility and keywords as I am sure you will find the answer. At a guess without checking Illinois nursing website you put Illinois nursing board down as recipient.

Hi Mads Mads! You can just put Continental Testing Services. That's the agency where the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations downloads all CES reports.
hi! i took my nclex-rn exam on aug29,2007 in manila, phil. according to the quick results, i passed. but as we all now, quick results are unofficial. so, im waiting for the official notification letter it comes with an application form for my license. and i need to send it back to them with a $50 fee.
its been 6 weeks since i took the test and i haven't received any letter yet. i've emailed both dpr and cts. only dpr replied and she told me to call the technical assistance unit. i called the unit and told me to call the testing unit. again i called the other unit and gave me a # that is cts.
now, cts gave me this # (217) 782-0458 to call and that my file is with them and to tell them that i am applying for my license. and i just cant get through with that #. either its busy or you'll keep on hold forever!!! i can't even clearly hear the welcome greeting, is it licensure mail or licensure main. all i can hear was licensure as the first word.
has anybody here passed il nclex-rn exam. how long did u rcvd your official notification letter?

hi, nxt777!
i passed the nclex-rn with illinois bon last year. it took me around 1 1/2 months or probably more (i can't remember anymore) to get the mail. it was delayed because it was a registered mail. i had to personally get it from the post-office. :-) hope this helps. check with your relatives if they received a notice about letter/package you have to personally pick up at the post office.

hi leis!
tnx for your reply! you mean i have to go to our post office here in my place to get the mail?
i have received mails from cts before but they were all delivered in my doorstep.
were all the correspndence from cts registered? like the receipt of our application and eligibility letter? or just the official results of nclex?
im so worried that i haven't received my results yet.

hi to all,
im a new board passer this June 2007 and i'm interested in applying in Illinois. I find this forums so informative although I'm confused about the do's and don'ts in applying the NCLEX examination.
I've already emailed the Illinois BON for the application form as well their fingerprint card yesterday and I'm still waiting for their response.
My question is, since i'm really confused:
1) Do i have to take the TOEFL-IBT or the IELTS? because some say TOEFL-IBT is required but how could you get the VISASCREEN CERTIFICATE if you need to take the exam for IELTS? Would that mean you need to take both of the exam?
Umm, I'm really confused since i'm a full bummer right now. Can anyone help me with regards to the step by step procedure in applying for Illinois? From the English exam to CES to VisaScreen to NCLEX? SO confused.
Lastly could i have anyone's (especially those who took their NCLEX exam for Illinois) yahoo messenger? Much thanks! Hope you guys answer my question.
Thank you very much! God bless!

VSC accepts either of the language exams. VSC is the last thing to be applied for as your file once paid for is valid for 12 months. Apply for CES first, if required by BON, pass in English exam, then apply to BON pay fees and wait for permission to sit NCLEX. Once passed NCLEX apply for VSC
Is it advisable to take the TOEFL-iBT exam before i proceed to any procedures like applying for CES? Somebody told me that taking TOEFL-iBT exam should be last since it's only valid up to 3 months? Does TOEFL-iBT expire? Thank you again!
By the way, which do you prefer (since i guess either TOEFL-iBT or IELTS is needed) for their english exam? TOEFL-iBT or IELTS? Which is easier?
