Ok, I know we should be frugal after we graduate and invest in retirement, pay off debt and student loans, etc. However, for a little fun, what kinds of things do you look forward to buying after you graduate and are working as a nurse?
For me: a Dyson vacuum cleaner ($500) and a set of NARS blushes ($200), the best blush on the planet. I've also been fixated on buying a Mini Cooper:
I suspect I'll buy the Dyson and NARS, but the Mini Cooper may just not be a good financial choice.
So what do you all want to buy?
Well, this is my list, but it's far away since I'm still taking pre-reqs.
1. pay off all our debt (credit cards, etc.) that has accumulated since I've been in school trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Student loans are gonna take a while though.
2. Buy a new car that I WANT, not just because it is big enough to hold the whole family. ( I probably won't do this for some years, since my practical side will win. LOL)
3. Be able to go shopping and buy things I want without having to worry about how much we're going to have to do without until next payday.
4. Travel. Take family and romantic vacations with kids and hubby.
I've never really had any desire to own a house, so as long as we have a safe roof over our heads I'm content there.
But, I gotta get thru my pre-reqs and get accepted to NS first, then work from there to graduate before I can even think about this stuff. One step at a time. It is nice to dream though....
We'll be marching up the Baby Steps. Since we live on MrMonkey's paycheck, mine will go to finishing out the debt snowball (it should just be my student loan by the time I'm done with NS, which we're going to cash flow). Once that's done, we'll build up the emergency fund, start the kids' college funds, put away for retirement, and pay off the house. Once we have the emergency fund in place, though, I get to save some for myself, and I think it might be laser hair removal. No more shaving/plucking?? SIGN ME UP. Then again, it might be having someone paint the house since we can't seem to get our poop in a group to do it ourselves. Who knows, in 2-3 years my priorities could be totally different from today's. I hope I didn't just jinx myself...
lol, what are wet dreams? I thought women didn't get those! LOL, oh no u didn't! ... NOT for a car!![]()
Yup, Hondas are nice. As for luxury cars, they are just too expensive to keep. Maintenance alone is expensive enough. Fun to drive though. I'd buy a Benz or a Lexus, if I ever win the lottery.
hey yes we can(dreams) lol but ive always wanted a bmw and thats going to be my GIFT TO MYSELF! what about you!
OK, I started this thread a while back. I bought the Dyson. I decided Bobbi Brown blush is better than NARS and got some of those. I'm not buying the Mini Cooper - I'm going to drive my rust bucket until it falls apart. I don't like debt.
So much for that! I bought a brand new car. A very nice one.
This is going to be fun...my turn :)
-First i'll have to be all responsible and pay off student loans
-a brand spanking new car with cruise control, power windows, mirrors and locks (all the luxuries i gave up when i got this used car)
-pay for my wedding, it sucks having to wait till graduation but getting married in NS is NOT AN OPTION!
- and a nice long vacation to Italy
Now all that's left to do is FINISH with school!!!!!!
Hmm where to I begin lol...
Coach purse
Chanel sunglasses
Ford Fiesta or Toyota Corolla (I'll get the Mercedes or Lincoln when i become an NP lol)
Real perfumes - no more knock offs and sample sizes!
Pay off student loans
Wii
Cute little doggie (teacup terrier maybe)
If (hopefully!!!) I have a family/husband by then, I'll get them whatever they've been really wanting
Its nice to dream lol....
Okay I couldn't resist adding to this post.
After paying off any outstanding debt then I can start wishing.
These are my wish items:
Designer shoes...Christian Louboutin to be exact
Laser Hair Removal-NO I am not a hairy chick, I'm just tired of the same routine of shaving, tweezing and plucking(I have a personal thing against body hair...don't ask)
A trip to Tahiti with a hut over the water(a delayed honeymoon since we never had one)
and a Midnight Blue Harley Davidson Bike for myself
Pretending I don't have any responsibilities.....Just for fun you guys....I would like
A trip back to Italy and France.
1 dope pair of Christian Louboutin pumps(my dream shoe that I will never own lol)
A year round ticket to Universal Studios, Disney World and Islands of Adventure
A super hot personal trainer that speaks a foreign language
***then after the personal trainer
A shopping spree to NYC for myself, my mom and my daughter!
It feels great to Dream LOL
I haven't gotten a smart car yet, as my 1995 Saturn is still running (quite well for the age and mileage, actually!), but I've been getting my hair cut at a salon every 6 weeks. I used to go to the $12 place a couple times a year to get split ends chopped off, so this is unbelievably nice. I can comb all the way through my hair without pulling! Woohoo!
