Came across this and thought we need a little humor during out frequent breaks from studying......we need MORE breaks than the youngens.....you know what I mean
Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things.
The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1987 . They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.
Their lifetime has always included AIDS.
The CD was introduced the year they were born.
They have always had an answering machine
They have always had cable.
Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.
Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.
They never took a swim and thought about Jaws!
They don't know who Mork was or where he was from
They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane Boss, de plane".
McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.
They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter
Save the earth. It's the only planet with chocolate
I love this stroll down memory lane. Not too long ago I was discussing with my boys the upcoming Clone Wars movie. Well, needless to say, I gained some major points with them when I told them that I saw the original Star Wars movie on its first night out when I was four. How many ladies out their remember wanting to be Princess Lea for Halloween?
Well, Moms like me love to get a few "cool points" from their kids when they can. So, I decided to hunt in my old room in my parent's house for the two stuffed Ewoks that I got when Return of the Jedi came out- - -Wicket Warrick and Princess Kneesaa (yes, I still remember their names!!:icon_roll). My oldest wants them to go on EBay. Not a bad idea.
Ah Captain Kangaroo and Mr Green Jeans. :) And what was the Moose's name?
Pay phones were a nickle and then went up to a dime. I miss those dial telephones. I want one for my house again. :)
Ice cream at Thrifty was 15 cents. And remember when the typewriter had the cent sign?!? There is none on my laptop!
My friend and I would walk several miles to go to the mall and play Pong LOL!
It's been a long time since I've posted to this forum and on this thread. I'm an LVN now going for the step up to RN. Just applied to the program.
Keep plodding away students! :)
My late husband had a 'Robbie the Robot' in the 60's and I remember going to the theater to see '101 Dalmatians' when it first came out and being VERY afraid! I was about 5 years old. In the early 80's we had a game for TV called 'Intellivision'. We could play baseball on it, among other things.
Before malls, my friends and I would catch a bus in Webster Texas and ride to downtown Houston and spend the day shopping at Foley's and Macy's and getting pictures taken at the drugstore in a little booth. We would return to the bus station and pay $1.10 to ride back to Webster where our parents would pick us up again (we lived in Clear Lake City). I would have NEVER let my kids do that!!!!!!!!!!!! It's just a different world today.
O.k here goes:

Boy's collecting baseball cards and comic books.

What is even better is getting Rock'em Sock'e Robots for your 5 yr old for Christmas and then having the joy of playing it with them on Christmas morning.
And of course...one word.....Atari. Pong. Breakout and Superbreakout...makes me want to break out mine.
