For the eyes of the "older" pre-nursing students only!

Came across this and thought we need a little humor during out frequent breaks from studying......we need MORE breaks than the youngens.....you know what I mean

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things.

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1987 . They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine

They have always had cable.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws!

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane Boss, de plane".

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter

Save the earth. It's the only planet with chocolate

I have finished all my pre-reqs and am waiting for my acceptance letter any day now for the Fall.

Who remembers:

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Lost in Space, Lunch with Soupy Sales (in Ohio) The Lennon Sisters on Lawrence Welk, Sing Along With Mitch, Herb Albert and the Tiajuana Brass, Banana Bana Bo Banna...., "Downtown" (playing on my sister's pink plastic radio as I fell asleep).

When JFK was shot and I came home from school that day, I told my mom "He was not!" when she told us. I was in second grade.

Where were you when Armstrong said his famous words? My whole family was glued to the TV. I remember sitting on the back steps at a League City community theater with Mike Aldrin and Tom Collins after acting lessons. We looked up at the moon and marveled "Wow, just think, your dads were up there."

When I went to school we had to wear pants. No shorts. Shorts were considered improper. Did I mention it gets up to 112 degrees here?!

Oh, you youngsters. We had to wear skirts, no matter how cold it was. We could wear pants under the skirt, take them off in the girls' room and carry them around all day, but could not attend class - and for years, work - in slacks.

:)

Now that's the truth. Thanks for sharing. I was born in 1970. God I miss disco music!!!!!! Anyway, I'm in second year of school right now and I thought I may be the only one who remembers the good old days. And we can't forget the Love Boat. LOL Those where the days.

We wore dresses to school. The only time I wore pants under my dress was when it snowed. We would take our coats, boots, gloves, hats and pants off and hang them in the big coat closet in the back of the room. That was in elementary school before we moved south.

In high school, we could first wear pant suits, then by my senior year we could wear jeans! Yeah!

I just recently hear about Ubby. A girl I tutored had learned it from her grandfather. She and her cousin can jabber away in it. So it hasn't been totally lost as she is in the 9th grade now.

Okay, here's the oldster question.

Who remembers where they were when JFK was shot? Who was ALIVE when JFK was shot?

;)

I was in 5th grade and the announcement came over our classroom loud speaker from the principal's office...

I remember Charlie Starkweather & Caril Ann Fugate's capture in 1958 and the choppy filming on TV, I was 3 years old...

Yes I remember the coat room. That's were I had my first kiss LOL. I hope kids today know that these realy are some of the best years of their lives.

I remember Love Boat....afterward Fantasy Island came on. Some of my other favorites growing up were Family Affair with Buffy and Jodie, The Carol Burnett Show, The Phylis Diller show (remember her hair).

I got made because my mom would allow me to stay up just late enough to watch Carol Burnett. Then the Shaw of Iran took hostages, and Dateline was created. Carol Burnett was then an hour later, and I couldn't watch her anymore.

Does anyone remember Wolfman Jack? And what about the Hardy Boys? I remember buying Tiger Beat magazine for the posters of Ralph, Leaf, Chachi, and a few others. Thats before I grew up (lol) and fell in love with the guys from the 80's hair bands lol.

OH my gosh! I had almost forgotten about Lawrence Welk! I was a preschooler and my dad would swing me around the living room pretending to dance like Bobby & Sissy!!! I also named my favorite doll Florence..........Florence Welk. My grandparents watch reruns on PBS to this day.

:Melody:"Good night, sleep tight, and pleasant dreams to you....Here's a wish, and a prayer, that every dream comes true......":Melody:

I know you all remember Donnie and Marie & Sonny and Cher. My cousins and I would wrap ourselves with the knitted blankets from off the back of the sofa and lip sync with the lennon sisters on Lawrence Welk.

And remember Captain and Tenil, and The Barbara Mandrell show. I forgot all about these variety shows. I used to love the Osmonds.
