For those awaiting acceptance letters from Northern Illinois University

U.S.A. Illinois

My question to all of you that applied for this year, what is your GPA?I am trying to find out how competitive the program is this year. The waiting game on the acceptance letter is killing me and I have heard we wont find out til end of March.

My GPA for the pre-req courses is a 3.0 . I know that is not the best, but I have a friend that goes there and her GPA was lower than mine, and she was admitted to the nursing program this past fall.

Thanks for your response.

Reese, does your account have a yellow triangle?

Does everyone have to attend the campus orientation or just the nursing orientation?

If accepted, you have to attend both. NIU campus orientation, I believe, is an all day thing and it's $100. You get your NIU ID, etc. Then you will have to attend the nursing program one, which I assume will be in with the acceptance letter.

Yes, I have a yellow triangle because I need to submit my transcripts for this semster over to NIU

I have been looking at other threads on here, and people that applied to Northern and got in, received their acceptance letters around the 20th of April. If this is the case, we only have about a week left til we receive our letters.

I have also looked at past threads. Here's to hoping we only have 5-10 more days of this awful wait.

I'm sure they are well on their way to having all the decisions made. If in the past, people have been getting letters between April 15-20, then I'm sure they probably have decisions made or at least most of them. They will still have to generate letters, get them in the mail, and arrive to us... all in 10 or so days. Or... maybe it's my wishful thinking lol

My mail takes forever to get to me. I propbably wont hear anything until the end of April, lol.

If we all get accepted we should all go out somewhere together and celebrate! :)

Just checked my mail, and nothing. =(

Does everyone here have a full time job right now or are you just taking classes?

I currently work full time at a law office, and on the weekends (flex) I work as a CNA. At night I go to school and next semester I will be taking 2 classes to finish up my pre-reqs for NIU.

I only work every other weekend as a CNA. I've got three classes this semester. If I am accepted for the fall, I will have three classes to take over the summer. If I am accepted for the Spring (which is my goal), I can divide up my three classes into summer and fall. If I am denied, I don't know what I'll do!!!! Cry for a good three weeks!!!

Sorry, Willow... guess I shouldn't assume you are a her lol

That's fine. :p I am! :)

KareBear's right about all the orientation stuff too. If you do it this month though, it's a little bit cheaper and the schedule is slightly more abbreviated (since it was specifically for transfers). Of course this only really matters if you're planning to attend NIU regardless, because otherwise you're kind of stuck waiting. :\

Also, I work part-time and I've been a full-time student this semester. I'll be working full-time over the summer though depending on my course load. I'd really like to get the last bit of my prerequisites done, but if I happen to get accepted for Spring semester (which would pretty much be my ideal scenario), then I have fall semester to finish everything up too. I don't know how much not having my prerequisites done is going to hurt me though, but I'm hoping not a lot.

And I can't believe you guys filled up over a page in one day! I love it. It's so nice to have someone to talk to about all this stuff. :)

If we all get accepted we should all go out somewhere together and celebrate! :)

Totally agreed, by the way! :)
