For those awaiting acceptance letters from Northern Illinois University

Published

My question to all of you that applied for this year, what is your GPA?I am trying to find out how competitive the program is this year. The waiting game on the acceptance letter is killing me and I have heard we wont find out til end of March.

My GPA for the pre-req courses is a 3.0 . I know that is not the best, but I have a friend that goes there and her GPA was lower than mine, and she was admitted to the nursing program this past fall.

Thanks for your response.

This is just for fun. What do you all think the letters will come in? Do you think the acceptance letters will be in a big envelope? And the denial letters will just be in a small envelope? I've been thinking that is how I will know if I am accepted or denied. I won't even want to open it if it's just in a small envelope lol

Willow, did they say if we will just be getting a letter or if we will be able to check out status online as well? Will we get a NIU email?

Willow, sorry this sounds dumb... but what do you mean by the "cut-off"? Is that the lowest GPA that was accepted?

It doesn't sound dumb! :p And yes, that was the lowest GPA accepted for that particular year and applicant pool. But again, it was prerequisite GPA and not overall GPA, just to clarify.

And I'm sorry, I totally forgot to ask about whether we'd be able to see acceptance on myniu or not. D: I knew I forgot to ask about something, because that's something I wanted to know too.

How old is everyone? (not that it matters ~ gotta pass the time some way lol)

I'm 23.

I heard from one of the advisors that letters for current students will be sent out later this week or early next, this wait is killing me!

Let us know when you hear something :):)

Oh, and only 24 more days until the end of April!!

Woohoo, 24 more days! And I'm close to mid-twenties as well. :p I thought I'd feel old at my orientation, but most of the transfers tended to be older students as well.

Count down continues........

20 :) good luck to you all! keep your heads up. If you want to be a nurse, don't let anything stop you. It sucks that there are many many qualified students for such a small amount of spots. But keep your dream alive!!!

Thanks for the positivity, jstasin :):)
