My question to all of you that applied for this year, what is your GPA?I am trying to find out how competitive the program is this year. The waiting game on the acceptance letter is killing me and I have heard we wont find out til end of March.
My GPA for the pre-req courses is a 3.0 . I know that is not the best, but I have a friend that goes there and her GPA was lower than mine, and she was admitted to the nursing program this past fall.
Thanks for your response.

Hey there! I just came on here to post something similar, but I guess I don't have to because you beat me to it :):) Anyway, I applied to NIU as a transfer student in October. I am coming from Waubonsee. My overall GPA is about 3.7 and my nursing pre-req GPA is closer to a 3.85. I hear the transfer students get picked last, so that really scares me. I do not have all my pre reqs done so, if I am accepted, I hope they choose me to start in January of 2013, otherwise I'll be rushing this summer to finish up my last three classes. Do you attend NIU now or are you a transfer? How does your friend like the program?

Hey ya'll good luck on your apps! I'm applying as a transfer student from Elgin Community College. Congratulations on your friend.
My GPA for pre-reqs is a bit above 3.5
and my transfer GPA is 3.7 Got a 110 on my Accuplacer
There was a mix-up with my transcript from Elgin so for some reason my bio class didn't appear on my transfer transcript by the Feb 15th deadline. I still had 8 out of the 9 pre-req's done though so I'm still holding out hope.

Good job on the Accuplacer! I got a 101. I still have to take statistics, Principals of Biology, and A&P II. It will be a full load this summer to get it done (if I am accepted).

I'm awaiting a response from NIU as well. I'm also a transfer though, and I've heard that they look at transfers last as well, so that makes me a bit nervous.
I have a 4.0 and would be transferring from COD with my Associate in Science. I received a 116 on the reading accuplacer. But again, I'm also a transfer... so I don't know.
Good luck to us all! The waiting part is always hard.
Sounds like you're going to get accepted, Willow. I think I have quite a bit of competition, and I am starting to highly doubt my acceptance. We'll see though, I guess. Good luck to you.
KareBear, I don't think that will be the case. Don't doubt yourself, it seems like you're doing great! The waiting part plays mind games with you. I've gone back and forth telling myself that I will or won't get into various programs that I've applied for... and I have been successfully driving myself crazy. I'm holding my fingers crossed for all of us and wishing us all good luck. :)
Thank you for the encouragement. Let me know when you get your letter.
Did any of you receive any scholarships?
Will do. Same goes to you! :)
I just received the transfer scholarship for a two-year period, but I didn't apply for anything else outside of filling out my application. What about you?
I also received the transfer scholarship.

I received the transfer scholarship as well :) Does anyone know when we actually find out? They said they send letters towards the end of April, but can't we find out sooner online? I have a 3.96 pre-req GPA and a 3.94 overall. I'm nervous because I still need to take Microbiology and statistics =\
