Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I am currenty applying to some nursig schools, and NIU is one of my top choices, I am very nervous and excited at the same time to see if I get accepted, wondering if there is anyone else out there applying too :) maybe we can help each other and get some info :)

Hi Zivinice,

I am also currently applying at NIU nursing program and wondering if I qualify. What is your GPA and pre re GPA

My overall GPA is 3.75, and im not sure what my exact pre req gpa is but Its alittle higher than my overall. Whats yours? Idk who qualifies it all depends I think on how high everyones gpa is every time they admit people so hopefully its going to be nice hehe. Did you take the accuplacer yet? and do you live far from NIU? I live around college of dupage and I was wondering how hard it is to commute hehe.

Zivinice,

Did you take the accuplacer test yet?

Specializes in Surgical.

Hey guys, NIU nursing Alum class of 2011 here. Hope you guys get in. So here's an insider tip if you're interested. Army ROTC there gets 2 slots in each nursing class they can use to bypass the application process as long as you meet the minimum requirements. But if you get in on your own good luck. Hardest classes will be Med Surg 2 and OB-GYN, at least for me. We always maintained a >95% NCLEX first time go rate there so you will be prepared before you leave there. Good luck.

I did not take the accuplacer yet, im taking it in 2 days, hopefully it is not hard. Thank you Spartacus I hope so too :). what is army ROTC? Ive heard a lot of people tell me that med surg 2 is the hardest they have ever taken. That is hwy I like niu its good at everything ;) One question Spartacus how did you get into NIU? what kind of gpa did you have?

Glad to find this thread. I just applied for Fall 2014 also. I want to get into NIU's program so badly. It's the only school I applied to. All others are too far or too expensive. I applied as a transfer student. This is a second career for me. I taught elementary school for 17 years prior to this. My prerequisite classes I pretty my have B's, though, so I'm worried I'll be rejected.

I hope you get in :), Whats your gpa?, I know a girl at my work who has an overall 3.2 gpa, and she got into NIU and Lewis university shes going to lewis starting this semester, so everyone has a chance.

Hi, everyone! My name is Gabriela, and I hope to get into NIU's nursing program, too. I just graduated from NIU and decided to go back to pursue a nursing degree. I read online that if you have a Bachelor's degree, you are exempt from the reading comprehension score. This is probably a stupid question, but -to ease my mind- I need to make sure I am understanding that correctly. Do you guys take that as an indication that I don't have to take the Accuplacer? I keep trying to get in touch with people from the nursing department, but nobody is getting back to me. I feel so dumb asking this question, but it's driving me crazy since the deadline is coming up.

Hey Gabriela, you do not need to take the accuplacer the accuplacer is a test just to measure your college level skills but since you already have a bachelors they automatically know you have the skills.

Thanks for the confirmation! Its a relief to hear because for all the other schools im applying to, I still need to take their required tests. I thought it was too good to be true haha.

I took the accuplacer and i got a score of 96, is that good? man i just hope it is
