For those awaiting acceptance letters from Northern Illinois University

U.S.A. Illinois

My question to all of you that applied for this year, what is your GPA?I am trying to find out how competitive the program is this year. The waiting game on the acceptance letter is killing me and I have heard we wont find out til end of March.

My GPA for the pre-req courses is a 3.0 . I know that is not the best, but I have a friend that goes there and her GPA was lower than mine, and she was admitted to the nursing program this past fall.

Thanks for your response.

I did not know that! Thank you for letting me know.

So I called NIU because I'm impatient. I wanted to see if there was a SLIGHT chance that she could tell me my application status via phone. I believe current NIU students would already know their acceptance/denial status. Us transfers won't be getting a letter for another 2-4 weeks =(

Megs, you're a current student, right? Have you heard anything yet?

Hey everyone...I just talked to the advisor at the Nursing department and she said they just started the applications for transfers....I hope they go quick! I've started counting down the days until the end of April lol

why does it cost money to go to the orientation?

I think you get your student ID, register for classes, and all that other stuff. But, I don't know why it costs quite that much. Maybe you are able to use financial aid for it?

So, I just got back from class and I heard a girl talking about all these other classes she is taking to get in to the nursing program. Guess this is a little late in the game, but I'm kinda freaking out. Are there other classes you need besides the nursing pre req classes???? I didn't know anything about that.......

Maybe the classes are for other schools she applied to. I am freaking out my 3.0 is not going to get me into this program

Does anyone know the average G.P to get into the program? Talking about G.P am freaking out too mine is 3.4.. heard it is very competitive..

Maybe the classes are for other schools she applied to.

That was my first thought too. Even on the nursing homepage, it just lists the pre-requisites and that's it. There are some other schools that have a lot of varying requirements for admission, so I'd just assume it's for another program aside from NIU.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sitting near her, I was kinda listening in so I couldn't hear everything she was saying. It just got me thinking that a bachelor degree is 120 credits. The nursing pre reqs add up to 31-33 credits and the nursing program is another 61-63 (or somewhere close to that). So, would you need more credits??? I'm getting myself all confused now lol

Sally, I tried to ask NIU a few weeks ago what the average GPA admitted to the program is and she told me it varies every year. It all just depends on who applies and what GPA they have that specific year. The nursing pre req GPA is what they mainly look at. I do know around 400 transfer applied this year. I didn't think NIU was THIS competitive.

I would say another 2-4 more weeks!!!!! There are 27 more days left in April ~ let the countdown begin!!!
