For those awaiting acceptance letters from Northern Illinois University

My question to all of you that applied for this year, what is your GPA?I am trying to find out how competitive the program is this year. The waiting game on the acceptance letter is killing me and I have heard we wont find out til end of March.

My GPA for the pre-req courses is a 3.0 . I know that is not the best, but I have a friend that goes there and her GPA was lower than mine, and she was admitted to the nursing program this past fall.

Thanks for your response.

I still haven't heard anything. I was told last Tuesday that the letters for current students were being sent out later last week or early this week. I'm 26 and I currently work full time in advertising. I have two classes I will have to take if I am accepted for the fall which is what I'm hoping for!!

I had a nightmare last night. The cut-off was a 3.2 and they didn't accept me. I couldn't believe it. I kept telling them my GPA is a 3.88. I was crying and everything. I filed a complaint, lol. OMG what a nightmare that was!

Anyway, 19 more days left until the end of April! We are now down in the "teens"! Almost halfway through April!

Has anyone called to find out what the cut off GPA is for the students that are currently attending NIU since their letters would have been mailed out already? At least, that would give us an idea on what we would need in order to be accepted.

Another question, does NIU look at the last 60 hrs of credit that are transferred in, or everything that is transferred from another university? The reason I am asking is because my GPA could be higher and I may not know it.

I Figured it out

I think they can see everything. But the specific classes needed to get into the nursing program is what's looked at the most.

It is getting soooo close... I'm going crazy!!! Megs ~ I think you can call to check your status over the phone since they have already made decisions for freshmen.

18 more days until the end of April! Hopefully we know something in 18 days or less!

Oh, and I just called the nursing department because I'm so impatient. She said no decisions have been made for transfers yet.

Called today and was told current student letters were mailed today, but they wouldn' give answers over the phone :(

Yay ~ so you'll find out soon... depending on where you live, I guess!! Do you live close? And, there is nothing on your myNIU that says your acceptance status?
