Florida Hospital Graduate Nurse Program July/August 2015

Published

Hello Everyone!

I am going to be graduating with my ADN in May and am planning to relocate back to Central Florida from Southeast Missouri (I moved here in 2007 with family and I'm very much looking forward to this move!). I applied for the July/August 2015 Graduate Nurse Program and selected my preferential locations as Orlando and Altamonte in PCU, Med/Surg Tele, and ED. I am hoping to move as soon as possible after graduation, dependent on getting a job. I am a single mother to a one year old and cannot go if we don't have a stable situation yet.

I guess what I'm wondering is:

What are my chances?

What advice do you have for me?

Did anyone have a similar situation and get hired on?

My application was submitted yesterday evening and this morning it said "Under Initial Review". I am 22 and have had 4+ years experience in Nursing as a CNA, the last year being spent with a Community Health Systems Hospital. I mentioned that I would immediately be pursuing my BSN this summer and also that my mom worked there as an RN before we moved and how she had many good things to say about FH.

Thanks in advance! I am banking on getting this opportunity and am not sure where I will go work wise if I don't get a position with FH. Haven't heard many good things with Orlando Health?

Specializes in Emergency, Med/Surg, Med/Tele.

Has anyone had any luck with the Hiring Events? I had a phone interview with HR on Tuesday and she said she was going to forward me on. Wondering if I should try to attend the one Tuesday if I don't hear back by then?

Hello all, I was invited to attended the residency program interview/orientation/tour back in May (FH-Tampa) and was offered the job two days later. I am super excited and looking forward to starting. I just graduated in May with my ADN and actually have not even taken my NCLEX yet (I have to pass this before the start date though, been on study overload!). Sounds like there are a lot of people out of state coming in. Anybody from the area like me?

They asked about MI, Stroke and Diabetes. Know s/s, meds, tests, and prioritization with these diseases.

Thank you!

I'm relocating from Massachusetts at the end of July. I had a prospect for a roommate but I think it's going to fall through. Anybody relocating for this job that needs a roommate?

Get a studio apt. I have a gf but if I wad going alone I would do that for sure.

They asked me about a 55 year old man with hypertension complaining of chest pai (MI) and a 35 year old Schizophrenic man who is becoming agitated. Both scenarios you had to explain interventions, medications and dosages, and any diagnostic tests

Well first I applied online. Then I received a personality type quiz that I had to fill out (strongly agree, etc) and I was sent a link where I had to list references and then they were contacted. Then I was called for a general HR interview, and that was all behavioral questions (tell me about a time when you...) and I was set up for an interview with the Baker Act unit PCU because I minored in psychology, and the neuro ICU because I interned on an ICU. I was offered a job on the PCU the day after I interviewed and had two days to accept

My application says "under initial review". I just submitted the references as well as the personality test. I applied for PCU, ER, and Womens services at Orlando, Altamonte, or Winter Park. Is there anyway to tell what position and location I am under review for? Thanx

RNbyGrace7: I would call human resources and find out. It can be kind of hard to get them on the phone but they're pretty good at calling you back if you leave a measage

Thank you. It changed automatically to FH Orlando Multisystem PCU the next day.

Hey, just curious did you attend the hiring events they was having?

RNbyGrace7: have you had an interview yet?
