Hello Everyone!
I am going to be graduating with my ADN in May and am planning to relocate back to Central Florida from Southeast Missouri (I moved here in 2007 with family and I'm very much looking forward to this move!). I applied for the July/August 2015 Graduate Nurse Program and selected my preferential locations as Orlando and Altamonte in PCU, Med/Surg Tele, and ED. I am hoping to move as soon as possible after graduation, dependent on getting a job. I am a single mother to a one year old and cannot go if we don't have a stable situation yet.
I guess what I'm wondering is:
What are my chances?
What advice do you have for me?
Did anyone have a similar situation and get hired on?
My application was submitted yesterday evening and this morning it said "Under Initial Review". I am 22 and have had 4+ years experience in Nursing as a CNA, the last year being spent with a Community Health Systems Hospital. I mentioned that I would immediately be pursuing my BSN this summer and also that my mom worked there as an RN before we moved and how she had many good things to say about FH.
Thanks in advance! I am banking on getting this opportunity and am not sure where I will go work wise if I don't get a position with FH. Haven't heard many good things with Orlando Health?
Hi all! I accepted a position at Florida Hospital Orlando campus and will be starting in August! I must've been an oddball because I didn't have a Skype interview, just a plain old phone interview. they asked me situation based questions like a 55 year old man with hypertension reports chest pain or a schizophrenic patient becomes agitated. I was thrown off guard but must've done well because I got offered a job the next day! I'm so excited to start!
How was the process I plan to do the same ? I also live in ny but I will have an associates ... I hope I can get in
Congratulations! Have you endorse your NY license or you applied for Florida license?
I decided to apply directly to the Florida board since I wasn't really intending to look for a job in NY :). I know that that's the fastest way to do it if you 100% know you plan on working in Florida. Otherwise the hospital had emailed me to use this service to expedite my license transfer:
Florida Medical Licensing Service -Paulina 850 942 0080.

I'm still waiting on my ATT at this point since my school is going super slow with verifying my degree but I think it'll work out since I applied directly. I hope. lol
Paintmegray: I got accepted into a PCU unit! Did you have your interview already?
Hi Student_nurse92, can please tell me some interview questions you got for the PCU unit? Thank you.
Hey. Yeah I got the job 2 weeks ago on PCU but I had to turn it down because I got better offers at different hospitals. As of now, the University of Iowa has the best offer, followed by Kansas City. I am still hoping I hear from university of Washington though.I was was really excited about Florida but once they extended an offer they changed the wage they quoted me and offered no relocation assistance. Also that contract scared the crap out of me. The fact that they can fire you and you still owe them money...ouch!!!. But the management on PCU was very friendly. I'm sure you will love it there
What type of questions did you get for the PCU unit? Answers will be much appreciated. Thank you.
