I'm looking into this totally on-line program. The price is right and it is a 'real' college in Florida. Anyone attend this school or have reliable information?
Thanks.
I'm officially accepted! Woot! I'll be taking Chemistry and "Concepts of Profressional Nursing". I'm a little nervous and excited, but also dreading the hard work ahead. Wish me luck! How's it going Cindy?
Patrick, are you in yet?
So happy for you Tweety Best of luck to all of you in the program.
Keep us posted on how you are doing.
I am re-starting with Jacksonville U's online RN-BSN. Will be my 3rd class. I enjoy that he courses are only 6 weeks long for each. It is demanding though. I also don't like that I have to take extra courses in history and economics from another online Junior College(affiliated with them). It seems like a waste to take so many non-nursing courses for a BSN. I also have an AA in Liberal Arts. Well, we must "jump through hoops" to get that coveted BSN already. I am taking my sweet time. One class at a time is enough for me. Why rush? I have my job now and it requires nothing more than my liscence and life support slass renewals. It is nice to go at my own pace(but I wish it was over!)

All right Tweety! I am very excited for you get started. Things are going ok for me. World Religions started this week and I am getting ready to take the first test, but thought I'd drop in on you first. :) Hey if you are interested, I will sell you the concepts book and the suggested reading books for Concepts. I will let you know about the Chemistry book later. Don't laugh, I am passing, but I don't want to jinx it! Have you got an APA manual? It will be required for the entire program so I am keeping mine. You definitely will use it so go ahead and get one. I have mine tabbed with post-it notes for quick reference. The Concepts instructor, Dr Rilla Taylor, is an absolute sweetheart. I will be in touch with you. The deadline for me to register for spring is 12/13, so I hope Patrick gets in as well. Did I tell you how impressed I am with the Religions class thus far? I am enjoying! :balloons:
Thanks for the offer Cindy. Good luck! I'll email you.
I got the APA book. My spouse used it when he finished up his Masters last year. He also used a program that I'm going to splurge on that helps.
The chemistry books at Amazon that are used don't have the CD-ROM. Do you need that? I'll probably go ahead and get a new one. But will be interested in the others you have.
Glad to hear you're enjoying school!

I've always taken the slow route. I'm not going to tell you how many years it took me to get my Associates Degree. Altogether, with related and unrelated courses (I swithced from business to nursing) I've been in school about ten years. And I only have an ADN! :rotfl:
Good luck to you.

Hi All! I am looking into Florida Hospital's program also...probably won't start until the summer though. I'm curious as to how many credits they are requiring of you? Did you find that most of your ADN transferred over??? I bridged from LPN-to-RN in 12 months (with several yrs. of prereqs before that!!!).
The hospital I work at has an onsite program...19 months long...about $15,000...I get $3000/yr. tuition assistance. I just don't want to make the commute an extra day each week.
All the best

Basically the entire ADN transferred over. They don't seem to require any specific amount of credits other than you have an ADN and an RN, and they give X number of credits because you have those two. They recognize all schools are different, but respect that you have an ADN and an RN.
In other words if one asks "what are the pre-reqs?". The answer is ADN with an active RN license. :)
They also have a Diploma RN to BSN program that's a bit different. :)

Hi Tweety .... sorry for the delayed response, I have been moving since Friday! I actually received an email from Terry on Thursday that I was accepted into the program. Thankfully I do not have to take Chemistry ... woohooo .... but you and I will be in Concepts of Professional Nursing class together. Then I take Leadership & Management. I am still waiting for my transcript review as I really DO NOT want to repeat any of the BSN courses I have taken with UoP .... the cost is very reasonable .... certainly better than UoP ..... but I am excited .... just waiting on the transcript review.
Congratulations on your acceptance ... I bet you are excited! I love online learning ... it is not easier, just way more convenient. Anyway ... I am getting settled into my new home and this is actually the first moment I have been online since Friday. Tweety .... keep in touch so I know when you are registering ..... I guess we have to register before December 13th.
Regarding online classes not being easier...you are right on Patrick, they are not. Do any of you know a really good computer program for writing APA style papers? YES, I have the darned book, but I was hoping to find another(less complex) resource. My next course is Nursing Research and I am none too thrilled about the thought of writing those APA papers again!
Thanks and good luck to all of us.

Tweety, that schedule is of my own doing. Normally Patho and Pharmacology are different semesters, but you have to have Chemistry before you "advance". Since I postponed Chemistry from last summer til now, Patho was pushed ahead as well. So don't worry, you may not have that tough of a load. :) BTW have you and Pat got all your paperwork in yet? Looking forward to finding out what you will be taking.........
