FIU Fall 2016 Generic BSN

Published

Hey guys! Is anyone here applying for the Generic BSN program for Fall 2016? I couldn't find any topics for it.

I'm in the process of applying right now and I just took the TEAS V today! I'm content with my score, but I may retake it. I hope that with my TEAS V score, my GPA, and my extracurricular activities combined that have a good chance of getting accepted into the program!

My stats are:

Science GPA: 4.0

GPA: 3.96

TEAS V Cumulative score: 79.3% :(

Reading portion: 83.3% unfortunately I ran out time on this one and had to blindly guess on two questions!

Math portion: 66.7% such a bad score for me! I had to guess on like 5 questions because I wasn't keeping track of time!

Science: 81.3% I'm so relieved with this score. I was so scared that I wouldn't pass the 62% mark. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!

English and Grammar: 83.3 % It was an okay section, a couple of tricky questions. I had like 3 questions on how a word is spelled correctly and those get confusing when two of them look like the right answer!

I would love to hear from anyone else who is also applying for the Fall 2016!

Well the one I went to located in north Miami beach was walk in. But you might want to call first to make sure your don't need an appointment :)

Alright I'll make sure to do that! Thank you!

So I finally received an email from FIU. Unfortunately, I was not accepted. I want to congratulate all of you who have been accepted. Please take full advantage of this opportunity and stay focused and study hard. My stats were Teas 82%. Science GPA 3.4. I work as a LPN with over 550 hours and had 40 hrs community service. Wishing you all the very best and please consider yourself blessed to be in this program!!!

Can someone explain to me the vaccine process. I am a little confused. Do we just upload proof that we have had those shots?

For the Flu shot, TDap and mumps, just show the paperwork saying you had the shot

for measles, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella you need to get titers done to show proof of immunity. Not just proof you received the shot. For PPD, you just show proof that it's negative.

I never ever took the flu shot before. Is it absolutely mandatory or is there a declination form? Is the flu shot given year round because I went to get my immunizations done today and most places keep telling me that they don't start given flu shots until August or September. How I am suppose to fulfill the requirements if I can't receive the shot before the deadline?

There's a declination form but I suggest you take the vaccine. They won't be looking for Flu shot until after 8/1 because most places won't have it until then.

I had mine at FIU last week but I have to take it again after 8/1 because the new flu shot with the new strand of virus will come out (theres a new shot every year). Just wait until then. Don't worry about the deadline for the flu shot. I got my information from the email our coordinator gave us in case of any questions regarding complio.

(sigh of relief) lol ok thank you @len95 I'll definitely take it I just wanted to make sure I wont get penalized for not having it by the deadline because I know they said we need those immunizations for clinicals so I was kinda freaking out lol but thank you for clarifying!!

Hi guys! I got accepted into the fall program. I am trying to complete the complio's requirements. For the immunization requirements, my titers were done in 2012, are they still valid or should I do another one?

Also, I am trying to sign up for FIU's Health Insurance, however enrollment starts in July. I email Mr. Yap about it, he did not tell me yes or no about waiting until I can sign up since there is a deadline to complete complio's requirements. Does anyone have a similar situation?

@puppywubby sorry that you did not make it.

Congratulations!!! @jackymass23 I'm really sorry you didn't get through @puppywubby

I also have the same problem with FIU's insurance.. I'm not sure what to do either but let me know if you get any replies from Yap concerning it.
