  1. I just graduated last Monday, April 31st. The program is great. I have looked at many programs before choosing FIU and I was not disappointed. You will get all the help you need, just remember to seek help when you need it. Each semester you will have a different schedule. (I don't know if this will change) At the start of the semester you will be given the chance to choose which section you want to be in, section 1 or 2. You will have to choose quickly because if there are no more space in one section you will be automatically placed in the other. Section 1 had the morning classes, like 7 am or 8 am class, three times a week; section 2 had evening classes (12pm or 4 pm classes, something like that). You only get to choose the section depending on what time of day you want to attend class, not the days you want to go, class schedule and clinical days are set. The first semester you will have clinicals also. Basically, you will be on campus a lot the first semester. We had fundamentals, Pathophysiology, Health Assessment and clinical. The following semesters you will be on campus less, because you will have online classes like Community health, research etc. The schedule was pretty consistent for the 2 sections throughout the program. I hope that answered your question.
  2. Hey Guys! I graduating from the BSN program next month. Those are some great stats that you guys have. I am pretty sure you will get in. If anyone needs anything, don't hesitate to reach out. I will do my best to assist.
  3. Hi everyone! I am living in Fort-lauderdale. I am an LPN working in Boca Raton (30mins drive from home) for 3 years now (pay 20.16 +$2 for evening/weekend shift that I work), also graduating next month with my BSN. The University that I attend is in Miami as well as my clinical Hospitals (30 minutes drive from home as well). I have been thinking about moving to some cities in northern Florida such as Tampa or Orlando where housing for example is cheaper (here 1bed/1bath Apt is $1500 or more per month if you want a good place to live). I have some families in Tampa/Brandon and Orlando. I see that housing is so much cheaper than down in South Florida. Before I make my decision, I would like to know how is the job market, the opportunities and housing (some discussion that I found dates back from 2009) or if it is even worth it. I have no problem with small towns or slow/quiet life. I greatly appreciate any help. Thank you!
  4. Hey guys congratulations on being accepted in the BSN program. It is very competitive, one more reason for you to be proud for being accepted. My advice is to get all your complio done. They are aware that flu season does not start until August 1st so no need to worry about it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. FIU BSN class of 2018 will be glad to assist. Good luck to you all... I have 2 small men top and 1 medium pants that I have never worn. The bookstore would not take them back because I put my initials on the tag. If you are interested send me an email @ [email protected]
  5. To everyone I wish good luck, have a great and successful journey. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys.
  6. Anyone that purchase the health assessment book online, did it come with the code?
  7. @TaneshaYStBrice If it is the 9th Edition for the fundamentals, it is only 120 on Amazon. The bookstore sales it for 420, it's only the book and the access code. Im definitely returning that book
  8. I received an email from Claudia. Apparently, everybody will have a 1pm to 5pm and a 5pm to 9pm lab. I wanted to have both labs at 1 pm to 5pm. I'm gonna have to stay at the school all day lonnnnnng :/
  9. @len95 I was told by the cashier that the code includes the ebook, and like TaneshaYStBrice said by itself the code is more expensive. I like having the physical book rather than the ebook. They ran out of the health assessment. I'm going back next week to get that last one...
  10. @13thExpansion I don't know which edition it is. The website doesn't say and I don't want to open the package to see which it it because I might return the book. The book has a white cover and just say Fundamentals of nursing in black. I see the 8th Edition on Amazon but they also have a 9th Edition which was published in March 2016. It could most likely be the 9th Edition.
  11. @13th Expansion Did you get them with the codes? I cannot find the fundamentals book nowhere. I checked on chegg but is not the same edition. The isbn that I have is 9780323506410. I've always rented all of my books, never bought any books. Now I don't know if the professor will use the codes. The codes are more expensive when bought seperately. I went to the bookstore today, I return the Patho. They price match amazon on the Patho, I got it for 106. They also match price dimensional analysis from the genereal barnes and noble website for $89.
  12. This books are expensive! The fundamentals book I cannot find it anywhere. Thank you very much guys, I called the bookstore they price match amazon. I bought 2 books and 3 scrub tops, my total was already $700 ... The fact that I don't know if we will use the code or not is keeping from ordering them online.
  13. @TaneshaYStBrice I am really hoping that it will be a good experience, we are going to be there for a while lol ... I didn't receive the updated list. Looking forward meeting you ...
  14. @TaneshaYStBrice I hope it will be a good experience as well. I don't really know why I feel a negative vibe from people when they talk about the VA. I don't want to believe what others think. I have to see for myself, and see how I feel about it. I know we will see a lot from med-surg to psych.
  15. Apparently the VA does its own. We don't have to pay for it. The one on complio was specificly for FIU. For example, Some job when they hire you wants you to do one, regardless if you had a previous one from somewhere else. I guess its a credibility/trust issue.
