FIU Fall 2016 Generic BSN

Published

Hey guys! Is anyone here applying for the Generic BSN program for Fall 2016? I couldn't find any topics for it.

I'm in the process of applying right now and I just took the TEAS V today! I'm content with my score, but I may retake it. I hope that with my TEAS V score, my GPA, and my extracurricular activities combined that have a good chance of getting accepted into the program!

My stats are:

Science GPA: 4.0

GPA: 3.96

TEAS V Cumulative score: 79.3% :(

Reading portion: 83.3% unfortunately I ran out time on this one and had to blindly guess on two questions!

Math portion: 66.7% such a bad score for me! I had to guess on like 5 questions because I wasn't keeping track of time!

Science: 81.3% I'm so relieved with this score. I was so scared that I wouldn't pass the 62% mark. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!

English and Grammar: 83.3 % It was an okay section, a couple of tricky questions. I had like 3 questions on how a word is spelled correctly and those get confusing when two of them look like the right answer!

I would love to hear from anyone else who is also applying for the Fall 2016!

Does anyone want to follow me on instagram? I feel like we should be friends so it's not so awkward at orientation! And does anyone know if it's an overnight thing?

Its not overnight, it's 8am-5pm :)

I'm on the same boat. Lol where did you find the one for $50? The one I found was $89 and I need the book which is $20.

What book exactly are you talking about?! I didn't know we needed one because I did a CPR class a few years ago and I didn't need a book

Not all sites require a BLS manual. But the one I was going to attend, required me to buy it.

They offered CPR classes during the orientation last year at the STAR Center. I think it was like $50-60. I don't know if they will do that this year. Also last year 40 got placed in the VA for clinicals. If they aren't a lot interested for the VA they will just choose you at random and you have to do funds, med surg, psych and i think practicum clinicals there. Basically no one was so they got stuck there. I heard there are less of you guys this year so idk if that number will decrease.

I know a gentleman for AHA BLS certs. Retired City of Miami firefighter and former EMS instructor at MDC (he knows a few things about CPR). Nice guy, and he is quick and cheap. If you're interested, email him at [email protected].

Since I am not from Miami I am not familiar with the VA. What is that? What are the others? And funds as in fundraising? For what? =/ little confused.

@faerytinkerbelle the VA is the hospital where veterans from the military go to receive care, it's right near jackson. i am not sure what other choices there are because i'm at the VA and have been since the start of the program so it's never been an issue for me. once they put you in the VA you won't get to choose your clinical site, idk about your last semester though and peds/ob you do somewhere else. funds is fundamentals.

@ivylee2007 I think that's a great idea!!! I'll follow you. What's your IG name?

@dramabeans If you don't mind me asking, how do you like the program so far? and the clinicals? :D

and @ivylee2007 what's your ig? I'll follow you! It'd be good to get you know you guys better! :)

@dramabeans you basically teach yourself everything, so yeah.... however, I do really like clinicals and they are my favorite part.

I emailed FIU HOSA too but apparently they aren't hosting any sessions until the beginning of the fall semester.
