I completed the final oral defense for my MSN through WGU this morning. I also have my BSN from WGU.
Completed RN-to-BSN in one, six month term, and the MSN in 11 months and five days (not that I'm counting!)
Two degrees for under $10K out of pocket, including books. (I received a total of $2K in scholarships)
So----- I'm going to put myself out there and if you would like info about either program from a recent grad -hit me up!
Definitely! I'd often try to determine if I was going to be finishing a class over the weekend and contact my mentor proactively to add more classes.
Wow that's great!! :)
What happens if you don't pass a course, are you able to retake it within that same term? I'm assuming the failing grade would go on your transcript? Not planning on failing anything, but you never know!!

You really can't fail a class unless you simply don't finish it by the end of the semester. When you complete tasks, you either pass it or it is returned to you for revision. You pass a class once you've satisfactorily completed all tasks for that class.

Thanks so much for clarifying that. I guess I was thinking that you turned in the essays or tests and if you didn't pass then you just failed and that was that. Thanks for answering my question!! :)
For those that finished the program or have been in the program for some time.. What was your study technique? Did you just make flashcards for all the terms and keypoints? And for the health assessment class, how did you study? Right now I am making a boat load of flashcards of all the points that I may not have known before but I realized that its quite a bit. any advice would be greatly appreciated :) I am in the ADN to BSN program started March 1, 2013, and still in the first class "Health Assessment".
Hello all!
Please forgive me, but what is an "oral defense" and a "capstone"?? I am just starting to look into online schools for a MSN...
Boy, WGU seems to be the way to go for online schooling!
Thanks in advance!
Most master's programs require a thesis or other large project (capstone) that represents the culmination of your schooling. The capstone for WGU is a large research project. Once you've written your thesis or completed you capstone, you have to "defend" it - basically sit in front a panel of professors while they ask you questions about your project or research, in order to ascertain that you're sufficiently knowledgeable about it. That's the "oral defense"
