Well one more EC grad. (ME) is now a WA STATE RN!
Due to the confusion in how WA state regulates "distant education" grads, I orginally became an Oregon RN 4/15/09, to avoid the 200 hour preceptorship WA state requires for "distant education" i.e. EC. HOWEVER per the WA State Board of Nursing, they told me since I was a LPN prior, to Excelsior ...the 200 hour preceptorship did not apply TO ME!
So I transfered my OR RN lic. up to WA about 5 weeks ago.................and here I am .......a Excelsior College Washington state RN....
woow....now I just need to finish the BSN program and I am GOOD!
Happy RN in WA!:chuckle:chuckle

Hey congrats, that's good to know since I'm here in Pdx and was thinking I would have to have those 200 hrs if I ever wanted to work in Wa.

I am soooo confused. It doesn't sound like I can get an answer I should bank on from the nursing board here in Washington. I'm about to start the ec program, am a current Lpn in the stat of WA. I think the rules have changed and I have to have the 200 hours preceptorship to test. Does anyone out there have the correct up to date info for someone in my situation? It would be so appreciated!

I would talk to the board and do your best to get a straight answer in writing as there has been a large bit of information put out on the subject and most of it is conflicting. I would also talk to the EC state board office.
Thank for the reply. It sounds like I'm going to have to start digging and take name rank and serial number. Ec is expensive and I don't want to start down that path and then find out about some hidden goodie that I have to deal with. This is stressful enough all by itself!
