Well done! I have actually completed my first bachelor's in public health and applied as an ABSN student. Fingers crossed for us all!

Just completed the last of my prereqs earlier this month. My school takes applications once a year and I was able to apply for next year's program. Now I am waiting to hear back about my points and if I made it this year. Chances are really good, just need the official word. Good luck with applying to nursing schools, it is definitely exciting to be at that step.

This is both exciting and nerve wracking at the same time.

That is a good feeling, I was done really a semester ago. But can only apply for my programs once a year, so I started taking the science courses so that I only have nursing classes to deal with. I have a previous BS degree so I don't have to do electives and other things. If I don't get accepted for this fall, I am not sure what I'm going to take. I am taking micro this summer, starting tonight actually, and that's it. I don't want to stop taking classes, so I may start working on classes for my bachelors if I don't get accepted this fall.

I am technically done with my pre-reqs, I have A&P II that I am taking during the fall, but it is considered "gen ed" in my school's program. I will be applying in August to start the nursing program in January. I am also taking behavioral statistics over the summer to get a jump start on what I need for the bridge BSN program I hope to attend after my ADN.

I can't respond to your PM because I'm rather new to the site but please see below...

I'm so sorry that I didn't see your message sooner. We started promptly after the orientation with assigned reading prior to the class start and as you may know things get hectic pretty quickly as I work full time & go to school part-time. I'm hoping everything went well if you did take the HESI this week. I can definitely answer your questions though and I hope it helps.

1. The nursing department requires that you have pretty much all the pre-reqs completed. You may be in progress of your last pre-req when they give you the HESI exam approval

2. After each nursing semester you must take the HESI achievement exam related to your semester. The grades don't count however if you score above 800 they will add 5 extra points to the final exam which counts for 40% of your class grade

3. Saturday clinicals are usually 8 to 3PM if you get everything done on time. There are a few times when you'll be "team leader" and you'll start at 7:30am but for the most part you will leave before 4PM. There is one rotation through the nursing home and that usually will run until 4pm because it's a lot of patients. You practice in the Nursing lab for 3 weeks prior to starting at the hospital

4. I used the HESI study guide that Mr. Sierra recommended as well as the Anatomy and Physiology Cliff Notes book.

6. I really hope you get into the program, it's a wonderful experience and you will love it. FYI Once you're in you will probably not need to buy the books. There are many students who have PDF copies of the first set of books that are required for NUR 112.
