Woohoo!
I'm so excited to be able to finally say this. I've worked so hard to complete these classes and I'm ecstatic. I took everything, not just the sciences, so I could just focus on nursing only when the time came. Next step, taking some summer classes to be used towards a bachelor's degree, and applying to nursing schools with a January start date. It feels so good to be "done."
Who else is gearing up for the next step?
Jessica - I'm also taking statistics this summer and I'm super nervous.
Great. You and I can be nervous and stressed together. Let's do this thing!!
Sadly, I can't wait for class to start on the first. I have felt so lost not having hours of studying to do everyday. I even ordered a dimensional analysis book to get started on my med calculations. We have a test on it every semester and if you miss 3 questions you fail. You get 2 tries and you're out of the program.
Congrats Kryptonite! I just finished up my prereqs last week. I got accepted to Sac State on the condition that I passed my classes this semester, so it felt REALLY good to finally be done! I did the same as you and got all the corequisite classes out of the way too so I can just focus on the core nursing classes now. Go us! Hehe
Hi,
No worries, ask away
It was definitely everything I hoped for and more! I thoroughly enjoyed the clinical portion of the class. Our teacher is/was very knowledgeable (Prof. Jean-Louis) and so was the clinical instructor (Prof. Baldia). I did well in the class and am hoping NUR 2 will be just as exciting! There is a lot of memorizing and reading that needs to be done (37 chapters total) but it's not hard material, just a lot of it for such a short period of time. Once you're in, memorizing the oxygenation, fluid and electrolyte imbalances (hypo & hyper natremia, kalemia, calcemia, magnesemia) and medications (about 15 in total) is key.
Are you in the field now? Are you applying for the evening program as well? I wish you the best of luck.
Best,
Christina
Congratulations! As a student who also JUST completed my prereqs, I completely understand the immense feeling of relief! I just applied to my school's ADN program for the fall and will find out hopefully at the end of June or early July. I'm wishing you the best of luck with the next step!
Wellthatsodd - Yes, let's keep each other going. My class doesn't start until July and it looks like yours starts on Monday. I guess you'll be the one helping me through this. :)
I'll have you know I've only had 3 panic attacks over this course so far this morning lol. Just kidding.
In Nevada our stats for BSN is a psychology class, statistics for behavioral sciences. The summer course is 10 weeks long. I have 12 chapter tests, 2 discussions a week, and 2 literary reviews written in APA format.
