I'm literally on the verge of tears. I just submitted my last assignment for my rn-bsn degree. I do not know why I'm so emotional right now. I just never thought I would make it this far in my education. I have always struggled through school. Not so much academically but more so due to surrounding circumstances. In CNA school I was 16 years old working 2 jobs while also completing prereqs for LPN school. My mom was a single parent and could not afford to put her3 children through college. No biggie, I did what I had to do.
At age 18 I moved out on my own due to unfortunate circumstances at home. At this time I was still working on my prereqs for the LPN program. I fell on hard times and ended up being homeless for a period of time. After entering the LPN program, things looked up. I completed the program, got married, passed nclex and got a decent job.
2 years later I entered the RN program. Once again life happened. This time a divorce. I remember constantly crying over it so much so my classmates noticed my turmoil. However, I was determined and I ended up passing with flying colors. Then history repeated itself. I passed the NCLEX, got a new job in a hospital, and re-married.
2.5 years later I start the RN-BSN program online. This time, it was school itself that was challenging. I am a terrible writer, and with papers due every week how will I ever get through this? On top of that, I was pregnant while working full time and going to school full time. My final class was even more of a challenge because in between writing papers I'm trying to bond with my new beautiful baby boy. I literally just took one paper and one assignment at a time and now here I am. I'm done!!! Ofcourse, I haven't received my final grades just yet but I am praying to God that I pass. The same God that brought me through the LPN and ADN program is the same God that will bring me through this one.
I'm just so glad that school is over and I can finally focus on just being a wife, mom and bedside nurse. I am a forever bedside nurse so therefore I don't forsee me going back to school at this point. I'm 26 years old and I just want to LIVE !!!! For anyone reading this that is on the verge of giving up, please don't. Hang in there, you can do it! You never know the strength you have until you have to overcome life's obstacles. I found strength in myself that I never thought I had.
Thanks for reading.

Congratulations to you! This is an affirmation that poor circumstances and humble beginnings do not need to define us or get in the way of succeeding in life.
