Can you please tell me if they are still accepting nurses from the Philippines?

I heard that nurses who passed their NCLEX from P.I. are unable to come due to retroggression? Is that True?

canada have their own requirements and you have to apply to the province you want to live in. will need a pass in english language and french if applying to quebec. as far as i am aware you need to have a local licence. the website for the province should have all relevant infomation so best check there

You definitely MUST be or have been licensed in the country where you obtained your nursing education in order to be licensed in Canada. You will also have to prove licensure in every jurisdiction where you've worked since. Some provinces accept IELTS and some TOEFL. CGFNS, as far as I can tell, is strictly a US thing with no value in Canada. Each province (there are 10, and 3 territories) has their own credentialling system in place and their standards are similar but not identical. Your nursing education must meet the minimum standard for the province you apply to and if it's found wanting you will have to upgrade through a local nursing program before your application can proceed. In Alberta there's something called Substantively Equivalent Competency that involves a formal assessment of skills and knowledge base and most foreign applicants are required to do this. You also require criminal records and child abuse registry checks in all provinces.

hi guys! i just want to ask those who are already in canda who came and applied in the phil (Thru an agency preferably) if after receiving their visa how long did it take before they were deployed to canada..and also please give us a background about the people especially in the workplace because as we all know, being new to a foreign country is really scary..

BAGWIS - something is fishy with your contract. Nurses from the Philippines can work as nurses here in Canada which include Alberta without taking the CRNE first under the Interim Permit. We came here all the way from the Philippines directly hired by NORTHERN HEALTH of BC and they shouldered all of our moving expenses including hotel and 1 month rent for the apartment. And we work as Nurses not anything else and the rate is based on BCNU agreement.

If that is how they will treat you in ALBERTA then forget it - there are lots of opportunities awaiting here in British Columbia. Just google health authorities of BC and start posting your resume on every position you are interested in.

hello Ms. Mctina_20. I read in your post that you are a filipino and you signed up with Northern Health? Do the jobs they offer require 1-2 years experience? Did you have to fly back and forth from Canada to Manila to process to take CRNE and then to process LMO? Would you recommend Northern Health to a fresh graduate like me? Thank you so much!

:( I hope there is stilla chance to become a nurse in CANADA even without a work experience here, anyways I heard we can still work as graduate nurse while waiting for CRNE there, and that would mean thats already getting the work experience if I started working there. Anybody here knows where to find an employer that would hire a graduate nurse at least Ill be able to save money for the other fees needed to be a RN in Canada? this is really getting frustating already...:banghead:

The best thing you can do is contact hospitals in the province/town that you want to work in and discuss with them your options. However you will still need to apply to the province's nursing board and get permission to work as a GN

To those who posted last january, are you all in Canada already? Whatever happened during your stay there?

For what its worth, Capital Health management reads this forum. So do a lot of your future co-workers and no we are NOT impressed with this initiative.

There are a couple of things you need to know, Nursing Auxilliaries do not exist. You will be hired as nurses aides. Yes, they make less than RNs and LPNs but their only responsiblities are bedmaking, bathing, ambulating and feeding the patients. No meds, no treatments, no wound care, virtually none of the responsiblity or stress of a nurse.

Many here know that this batch of nurses are planning on using their hire as an stepping stone into the US and are not happy with it.

And in all honesty, why should Capital Health pay for your family's immigration costs? We are nearly all immigrants here and we all had to pay our own way here. Hell, my family had to repay our immigration costs. I can see refunding the nurses way.

To put it plainly, with the way you are talking here on these forums, I wouldn't be surprized if a few of you lost your sponsorship.

You are not seen as saviours of our health system, merely a prop to help hold up the wall. It's the same opinion held towards the New Zealanders and Australians who are also coming at the same time.

I dont understand why such grudge....on Filipinos... maybe you are just another miserable person who looks down on people who are just telling about their plans....... Dont be too upset about Filipinos making Canda their stepping stone to USA????? Thats a misinterpreation of what is really the real deal.... Lets say youare a traveler... and it's been years already that you are used to travelling the same route or road... every one else you know is travelling through that road, until it was closed for lets say for some reason, .... would you insist on that closed road? if you want to go somewhere as a traveller you wouldn't stay there and wait until the road open, but instead you will find way to take another path. ....and you dont have to be too emotional about that.....:wink2:
